If we are all so selfish, why are we giving billions of dollars in foreign aid to other countries?

In 2014 America spent $35 million on foreign aid. $33 billion was the projected aid for 2015.

Obama requested we spend $37.9 billion for 2016.

That money doesn't help people?

"yeah, i am going to trust a site called "the conservative tree house" Hahah"

Thanks for the admission you never went to the site to review all the polls listed there.

Those were not "conservative treehouse polls". Those were polls from all over the US...from more than 20 different sites.

But, I know you wouldn't want your little bubble world of unreality punctured.

Your claptrap attitude that America is miserly and not generous is exactly the reason most Americans have had enough. Time now for America First for a change and let the rest of the nations continue to look out for their own interests but not at our expense.

If that is the worst you take away from the debate, Clinton is doing something right

Well, although I do agree that american culture and american people are open and "generous" (that needs to be defined), that is not why they give protect the rest of the world, because they do this essentially to be in control, and trump made a mistake yesterday by arguing germany south korea and japan, and saudi arabia should pay for their defense, indeed, this is how the US control those countries, no more money no more control.
The general de gaulle refused to be ´bought' and kept France's independence by refusing US troops permanently and left nato for a long while.

Finally, although US have been decisive in wining WW2 and WW1, they, you, did enter the war only in 1917 and 1942. That is not to diminish the major role that the US played, but let's not forget what the soviets did, 20 millions dead, (civilians included) during WW2, they liberated all eastern europe (with an ulterior motive to take control of it, but isn't it exactly what the US did too with western europe, hence the military base in germany and probably other part of europe ?

I do recognize that the US didin't destroy democracy like the soviets did, but to what extent is the western model, partly built out of the enlightenment period, is democratic now and what is the democracy promoted, maintained, by the US in other countries ?

Perhaps in some cases, I would agree that it is best for other countries that the US concentrate on themselves and let other countries alone, like during the irak war of bush jr (perhaps senior too, but I dont know that)

Accidental Americans who see America as The Den of Iniquity in the world are free to exit the shores of the United States. Those of us who are tired of hearing your Progressive Socialist claptrap wish you would do so. If you had the courage of your stated convictions, that's exactly what you'd do.

You'll find no walls preventing your escape and no one will be at the borders of the United States to turn you back.

When you arrive at your destination, you can go to any US Consular Office and easily renounce your US Citizenship.

Go, and be happy.

I watched the Catholic Charity Event last night and both candidates were shameful.

Instead of a good natured roast, both were bitterly political and an embarassment.

Trump was actually booed. IMHO, An unheard of thing at a religious undertaking.

Altho afterwards, Cardinal Dolan said they did shake hands and vere cordial.

Let me clue you in. It wasn't Hillary The Corrupt they voted for overwhelmingly. It was Donald J Trump.

They made their determinations across a wide spectrum of polls. If you really want to know, you can go here and check it out for yourselves.

Trump just told the truth. Killary despises Catholics. Her "save the toddlers" rehtoric for gun control at the debate was ridiculous for a late term abortionist. Save the toddlers, kill the babies, ban the guns. She's a joke. The best the Dems could do was nominate the most corrupt politician to ever live. And then engage in massive voter fraud to try to get that fashion nightmare of a clown elected.

You do realise that foreign aid comes tied up with business agreements, right ?

In return for food aid the populations are required to accept vaccinations, or other medication tested on them...in case of Africa
Its often GMO food being dropped on them - Zimbabwe did not allow planes to unload, and send them back with a note 'we don't want your killing food'.
More than half of the financial aid is directed to programs other than humanitarian, ie. help the political process, or help foster governance etc

Another example from Africa:
USAID has targeted some $15 million in technical assistance for the energy sectors of developing countries. Read, US companies got contracts to build stuff, for which the receiving country has to pay later. U.S. assistance has built a $50 billion annual market for private power. U.S. firms are capturing the largest share of the $50 billion annual market for private power in these markets.

So yes it sounds really good, but its not humanitarian per se. It is a business deal.

Randall, you sound bitter and angry

Trump is trying to convince the people the election is rigged but we know voting will go on with minimal if any rigging.

Trump will lose and by his own merit.

Oh right! Brilliant thinking.

If I oppose US foreign policy I must be a socialist.

Why not just conclude I'm a pig farmer with purple hair?

That's just as logical.

Not sure why you think America should not be held accountable by its own people, to do what's right, and criticized when it does wrong.

Millions of dead people and illegals will be voting, so that's not insignificant. But Trump will still win. I'm not angry. I'm appalled that anyone could be blind to the pure corruption of Hillary.

Trump doesn't have to try to convince anyone that the election is being rigged...there's evidence of it.

Wikileaks? Video proof of registration forms & primary ballots being ripped up and shredded...

What rock are you people living under?

This is why I would never vote for her, either.

Partial birth abortion.

Absolute nightmare.
