From a friend: quote: The Trump "tax plan" cuts corporate taxes by 57% meaning that you and I will have to pick up the slack for the billionaires at Exxon through higher tax rates on our end. In addition, Trump wants to eliminate the 401K write off despite the GOP's threats to dismantle Social Security. How in any conceivable way is this a pro-working class, pro-middle class administration? You don't have to be a steel-town girl to know that the executives in the high towers never, ever, ever share their wealth with the workers unless those same workers unite to demand equity.

The house isn`t even considering it yet. quote: After the bill’s defeat in the House, Republican lawmakers are scrambling to refine and compromise on language within the bill. Even if the bill’s edits are complete by the end of the week, it would take another week the give the House time to consider the legislation, putting it past Trump’s 100 day mark to repeal and replace Obamacare.

Well the wall looks dead for now... and Don Dumpo is blaming Democrats, as if any of them have to vote yes to pass it.How does that compute, exactly? IP: Logged |

President Trump dropped the wall from the budget to keep the government from shutting down. It might have to wait until 2018 when more Dems are sent home. IP: Logged |

Presenting House Republicans appear to have included a provision that exempts members of Congress and their staff from their latest health care plan. The new Republican amendment, introduced Tuesday night, would allow states to waive out of Obamacare’s ban on preexisting conditions. This means that insurers could once again, under certain circumstances, charge sick people higher premiums than healthy people. Republican legislators liked this policy well enough to offer it in a new amendment. They do not, however, seem to like it enough to have it apply to themselves and their staff. A spokesperson for Rep. Tom MacArthur (R-NJ), who authored this amendment, confirmed this was the case: Members of Congress and their staff would get the guarantee of keeping these Obamacare regulations. Health law expert Tim Jost flagged this particular issue to me. A bit of background is helpful here. Obamacare requires all members of Congress and their staff to purchase coverage through the health law’s marketplace, just like Obamacare enrollees. The politics of that plank were simple enough, meant to demonstrate that if the coverage in this law were good enough for Americans, it should be good enough for their representatives in Washington. http://www.vox.com/platform/amp/2017/4/25/15429982/gop-exemption-ahca-amendment IP: Logged |

This isn't just a lower rate. They are scrapping the 26,000 + page Tax Code. It's aimed at helping the middle class. It will pay for itself through growth. When Reagan lowered the top rate from 70% to 28%, revenues doubled!IP: Logged |

Who would want to come here now? A racist, sexist/misogynist government is now running this country. Your president has been riling up crazy dictators who would love to kill us all, it seems. The American Dream is on hold. IP: Logged |

Oh, I suppose you think we should bow down to murderous dictators, cower to them, and pay them billions like Obama did? No, illegal crossings are down, because unlike Obama's catch and release, President Trump is enforcing the law.IP: Logged |

Under Reagan's tax cuts, the GDP went from minus -1.9% to 4.7% the following year and then over 7% the next year! If we only grow the economy by 1% from eight years straight of Obama's 2% to only a gain a single percentage point to 3%, it will create 180 billion in revenue. By lowering the capital gains tax, people will sell off assets and pay taxes. Repatriation of offshore monies will result in taxes. Then people will spend that money in the economy. Lowering corporate taxes will result in investment in machinery to make work more efficient and create more jobs.IP: Logged |

They keep the money offshore, but they will then be able to bring it back into the country at a great tax rate and spend it. IP: Logged |
