Regardless, his policies are NOT Making America Great Again. Either internationnally and nationaly.But I never discussed the popular vote because the system is such that it is not direct votes that count it is electoral college that choose the president,so if we follow the rules, then he is rightly elected as president. No discussion here.
If liberals do not want him or any other politicians like him playing on the fears and hates of their compatriots, they need to propose policies that will FEDERATE enough voters, and rethink why he is still so popular among his voters till now.
The truth of the matter is that his voters do not follow him, he follows them.
He gave a voice to the unheard, unlisten, as well as, to the racists and bigots. And it made enough people to get elected.
The opposition, i.e. The minority, needs to propose a vision more encompassing, that brings along either the bigots and the racists (unlikely I hope) or the unheard that are left aside by the powerful who manage to protect themsleves or their way of life.
If not they will support donald trump and other populist politicians who simplify their misery by telling them he will sort their problems.
Till now the elite (right or left) could dispense themselves to truly care about the unheard and those who thought their vote eidn't matter anyway. The cultural shift happens I think because of the new era of communication we entered with internet.
Trump is just an illusion in the sense that he promises a new way of doing things, but it is in fact highly relying on the old fashion, ONE MAN solution. Whereas I think a truer, more efficient and honest way to change things would be for the liberals to propose a new vision, more like a coalition, where differences of opinions within a certain frame (views) are discussed, heard and composed with. Compromise and open acknowldgement of difficulties, in fact being honest, but taking on board not just those who have the solutions that they share with those who don't, but also those who have problems and can really explain how it is to live through them. Less of a top down way of doing politics, more of a broader alliance between thos who still share SOME visions in common.
But if you can't eat, or heal yourself, or have debts when finishing university, or can't afford a car and can't rely on public transport, then who cares about saving the earth or defending women's rights for example ?
