We already knew people in high tax states were going to lose state and local tax deductions. And taxpayers receive more take-home pay, so obviously that translates into less in "theft with no interest" refunds, because they aren't having the money grabbed at the source.

I had mine done today. I got hit with $980.00 higher tax outlay. Self employment is not productive with the dons tax cuts.

Sole-proprietorships get the same 20% tax cut as partnerships, S corps, LLCs, and LLPs. Maybe your tax preparer is not up to par?

Oh good, your source is Twitter. A well known source for 'credible' news! NOT!

Twitter is a well known source for political lies from those with the 'Lying Gene'!

There are those who enjoyed making the federal government 'Interest Free' loans with every paycheck. They're in the small minority. Most people enjoy having bigger paychecks each and every pay period and a smaller tax refund from Uncle Sam at the end of the tax year.

Most people across America are tired of paying the state sales taxes and property taxes of clueless morons who live in high tax states run by moronic leftists who tax every thing that moves or is nailed down. Now, they have to pay their own state taxes because they can't take federal tax deductions for taxes their states lay on them.

They have a choice. Vote the clueless leftist morons who run the high tax states...and cities out of office...or pack up and get the hell out.

The tax cut applies to self-employed. You also get to take the full deduction for equipment instead of depreciating. It sounds like your accountant doesn't understand the new law.

So, a VOX writer praises leftist liars for lying to Americans about Trump Administration's tax cuts. A new low for so called journalists.

Vox Writer Praises Progressives for Misleading Americans on Tax Cuts
Mikhael Smits
April 9, 2019

Vox writer Matthew Yglesias praised progressive groups for misleading Americans about their taxes Monday.

In a tweet, Yglesias praised the "messaging success" over President Donald Trump's Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. The president signed the bill into law in December 2017. At the time, then-Speaker of the House Paul Ryan (R., Wis.) said the bill would save families making $73,000 per year more than $2,000.

"[P]rogressive groups did a really good job of convincing people that Trump raised their taxes," Yglesias said.

The Washington Post gave the latter claims two and four Pinocchios, respectively.

According to the Tax Policy Center, the average middle class family is keeping almost $1,000 which would have previously gone into government coffers.

Monday, Yglesias admitted the bill had in fact been a success. Despite Democratic insistence to the contrary, "the facts say a clear majority got a tax cut."......

MAGA: H&R Block average customer paid 25% less tax in 2018
Chriss Street

H&R Block reported that due to Pres. Trump's Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, its average customer paid 25 percent less in taxes in 2018 than in 2017.

As America's largest tax preparer, the Kansas City, Missouri company operates 12,000 retail offices across the nation and filed 19.9 million tax returns in 2017. For 2018 tax returns filed through March 31, H&R Block reported that its average customer paid $1,200 in federal tax. That amounted to a 25-percent savings, or about $400 less than the $1,600 paid in 2017.

Despite fears that residents of states with high tax rates would suffer due to the Trump tax cuts' $10,000 limitation for state and local tax deductions, H&R Block reported that New Jersey customers saved 29.1 percent, or $809; Massachusetts customers saved 27.6 percent, or $715; and California customers saved 27.1 percent, or $630. .....

I made less than last year (which was below $75,000). I had to pay state taxes - which is not unusual for my state, unfortunately. I usually break even for state, but not this year.

My federal return was pretty sad. I think I got about $400 back. BUT I have no dependents, no child tax credits, etc. Plus I was penalized for various interest that I received...which I did not know was a thing, but apparently it is.

A friend of mine has kids, and is raising her grandchild. She and her husband somehow *owe* $12,000, even though nothing changed for them.

I should add that my friend is the only one in her family that works. And her pay was rather modest for last year, so I think she falls in a lower tax bracket in general.

I wonder if I could get away with listing my cat as a dependent.
