It seems fairly common where I live. We have a lot of Republicans that used to be Democrats. Mostly, they were of the Jimmy Carter era and then jumped ship when the party changed.

Have you ever? What were your reasons?

Democrat to independent, back to Democrat. At this point, I can't see myself ever changing to Republican.

I noticed a lot of people switching from Republican to Democrat, when Trump was running.

I've went from libertarian to Democrat. At some point, I will probably not be a Democrat anymore...the platform has changed so much that I hardly recognize it. Maybe Independent.

Well let's see .....

Garden variety social liberal/fiscally conservative moderate Demo a la 1st term Clinton. Phew was that a wake up call.

Bleeding heart 90s new age vegetarian sjw. lol Damn when I think of the money I sent Morris Dees. Truly we dig our own graves.

Anarchism (pro tip: this came in useful when called for jury duty), ecofascism, pro abortion feminisim, traditionalist conservatism, nationalism ... blah blah. Checked off a lot of ideological boxes.

I was never a neo con though. At least there's that.

Almost everyone in my family are Democrats. I used to be, as well. The party has become something totally different.

Well, in Lousiana, the Republicans just fought to lower the marriage age for girls, to something like eleven or twelve. "They're going to get pregnant anyway, so let them be married." Just like republicans here in Ohio, killed a bill change that would make spousal rape illegal. That's what you want to represent? Go for it, but I won't be joining anyone.

It's beyond me, how people can keep blaming the Democrats, as the republican party keeps getting more insane.

Lots of democrats voted for Trump in 2016.

Look for far more democrats to vote for Trump again in 2020.

Whether they change their party affiliation is immaterial.

The Democrats put this bill forward. Republicans lobbied against it, and the bill was killed. It was all suddenly reversed, and they passed it, setting a minimum age, depending on the circumstance. But no younger than sixteen.

In the article I saw the other day, this was this "adorable" picture of a girl in her early teens, in a wedding photo with a man who looked to be around the age of 30. One republican woman had a heart, and spoke up in favour of the bill. http://time.com/5600202/louisiana-minimum-marriage-age-bill/ The pubbies actually said before, that when they marry younger, they tend to stay together. What is forgotten is that it's usually because they have no other options. They're stuck - and who are they to dictate who gets together, and how long they should be together? Seriously overstepping in every way, but hey, they don't kill babies, until they're actually babies, and don't give a crap about whether or not they have health care, food, or a home.

I didn't see any language in that bill requiring marriage at a younger age...or any language specifying whom should marry whom.

He only "won" with help from Putin, cheating in other ways, and because some Democrats didn't vote at all.

Plenty of Republicans voted for Hillary. They were appalled that their party was going forward with him.

"Just to add some numbers to all this:

In Louisiana alone, more than 4,300 minors were married from 2000 to 2010 and over 80 percent of those were young girls to adult men. Judges even allowed for girls as young as 12 years old to marry during this ten-year period.

Imagine what the parents must be like when they’re signing off on these marriages. The legislators should be working on laws to protect the kids from those adults, not laws setting those kids up for failure."

This is what Republicans were fighting for. To allow girls as young as 12, to get married to adult men.

Goodnight.

Your evidence of 12-year-olds getting married is an unsourced quote in a fringe article? And if you still think Putin got President Trump elected, you might be a fan of a certain MSNBC show with ratings rapidly declining. You should watch less fake news and get updated with reality.

Debunked but leftists just can't get it through their heads that Russian intelligence agents supplied the lying material for the Steele Dossier...that was supposed to sink Trump's Presidential campaign.

Oh, and Hillary The Corrupt and the Demorat National Committee paid for it all.

There was Hillary The Corrupt 'Colluding with Russians', not Trump!

This topic imploded quickly.

Switching parties is an easy decision when the party you're in no longer fits your values and morals. The Democratic party has changed their platform to accept anything and everything...even full term abortions, which I cannot accept, and open borders, which harms this country instead of helping it how legal immigration can. I'm also unimpressed with how the Democratic leaders are focused on issues from 3 years ago instead of focusing on the issues we have right now.

The Democrat platform and leadership *seems* at a glance near unrecognizable. I'm sure that's off putting to more moderate Dems. I must say tho, the changing of the guard was well executed. We all know getting a third party off the ground is impossible. So what to do but take over one of the existing parties? Far left cultural Marxism slid right in.

Credit where it's due

There are good Republicans too, like the youngster fighting in Kentucky against Big Pharma companies who manufactured the Opioid Crisis by not warning about the dangers of addiction. From 2008 till date, more than 120,000 Americans in deep red States of Kentucky and Oklahoma have died from Opioid Addiction.
People free from any lobbying control of Oligarchs will work well for any party.

I see a lot of hate for Trump amongst Democrats and some Republicans [who switched] but Trump is a reality show expert doing what he does best: Manufacturing Outrage to stay in the top of the TV Ratings.

The real Master of Corruption is Senator Mitch. If USA suffers in the future, it will be due to him. He is the one with the actual Russia and China corruption links. Trump borrowed from Deutsche Bank [who laundered Russian Drug Money]. Mitch took funding directly. All of this will become textbook case studies in Global Mob Corruption around 2028 [Expecting Putin to die by then].

I expect more Republicans and Dems becoming Independents in coming years, voting for Moderate candidates whenever possible.

Tbh, the opioid crisis has ravished Appalachia more than anywhere else. He should be working hard, because it's a problem right in his back yard. And not enough is being done for it.
