Thanks to President Trump, unemployment is at record lows. Tax cuts worked. Love him or hate him, you can't rationally argue against results. Wages are now going up, because labor is a commodity. Since there are more jobs available than people competing for them, employers will have to offer higher wages to attract job applicants and/or better benefits, such as health care. More on that later. What this country needs are even deeper tax cuts. I dare say that we need a total cut of the regressive and repressive income tax. We need to abolish it completely. The IRS is nothing but a tool of enslavement that is illegally enforced and used as a politicized weapon. If we abolish it, workers would keep 100 percent of their pay, and companies would keep 100 percent of their profits, a portion of which would be reinvested in expansion, and to attract talent would also translate into free or low cost health insurance for employees. Can you imagine the trillions of dollars that would flood into our country from foreign investments if we had no income tax? The DOW would shoot up to 30,000 or more! To prevent a future administration from reenacting an income tax, the 16th Amendment would have to be repealed. It's a long process, but it's a necessary one. Also, we would need a national sales tax (of around 25 percent), but so as not to adversely impact the poor, food, medicine, clothing, school supplies, and housing should be exempt. Used items would be exempt. Alcohol, tobacco, and weed would not. In fact, let's tax weed the most. And if you buy that new car, you will have to pay the tax. Due to the savings in not having to comply with record keeping for the income tax, prices for that car and other items might not increase the full amount of the tax, and it might level out over time. It's a luxury tax. Now, back to health care. Abolishing the IRS isn't necessary, but it would be a great start for many reasons.

The key to fixing health care is to focus on employer-based care. Most people receive health insurance through their employer anyway. The best way to ensure that everyone is insured is to focus on that. We need to make it easier for employers to provide insurance. Allowing insurance companies to cross state lines would certainly do that. Insurance is governed by state law. We need to modify that through federal legislation. We don't do that through requiring anyone to purchase it. We lower the costs through capitalism and competition. Health care is important to people. They will make their employment decisions based on health insurance. As the economy continues to grow, companies will have to offer better packages to compete with other employers and attract talent.

Obamacare was a disaster, but it wasn't a complete disaster. It did three things right: (1) It changed the narrative to a preventative care health model (that was a revolutionary idea). (2) It got us talking about pre-existing conditions. (3) It got us talking about keeping children on their parents' insurance plans through college.

While capitalism can solve our nation's health care crisis, it needs a gentle nudge from the federal government. I'm all for the free market. But health care is an exception. Unlike most supply and demand economics, health care is price inelastic to demand. What that means is that no matter how high prices rise, the demand stays high. People will pay anything not to die. For example, diabetics need insulin to live. There is no reason that other countries should get to pay $10 for the same insulin that Americans have to pay hundreds of dollars for. The government needs to intercede and put a stop to that. State governments are already capping insulin to $100 a month. That's just one example where legislation needs to rein in things.

My rant is over. Carry on.
