how is this a problem exactly? illegal immigrants having children here shouldn't make the child an automatic citizen, it doesn't work like that in many other countries why should it be that way here?

you'd think people who were against families splitting up would be ok with this

the only issue i see with it is that it touches on the 14th amendment, but otherwise why should the baby of illegal immigrants be a citizen?

All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the state wherein they reside"

The problem with birthright citizenship is found in the bolded words of the 14th Amendment.

Children born to foreign nationals...which is what illegal aliens are..foreign nationals, are minors under the legal control of their parents. Their parents are not subject to the jurisdiction of the United States...being in the US illegally; they are subject to the jurisdiction of their home countries.

Which means their children have no rights to US citizenship...any more than their illegal alien parents have.

The fact leftists...mostly, have pushed to hand over citizenship to these children flies in the face of the 14th Amendment and common sense.

they're harping on that "all persons born in" bit i would imagine rather than the other part you made bold (which is why i said "touches on" rather than "violates" the article if i remember right outright claims violation though)

that being said i completely disagree with making them citizens

edit: i'm also failing to see why anyone would have an issue with not granting them citizenship

how is it even an issue?

I'm glad that England had birthright citizenship, when I was born. It was my home for most of my childhood, my mother was English, and thanks to my dad, I'm also an American citizen. Maybe I would have automatically been a citizen due to my mother, in the country that still feels like my real home. I don't know if I would have been allowed dual citizenship. A friend of mine was concerned that this kind of thing would affect my citizenship here - that you guys who want this, could get rid of me. It wouldn't, since my dad is American. Of course, Trump wants to do it for racist reasons, so I wouldn't be a concern of his (except for the fact that I would never vote for him).

i'm curious do you think he's racist towards germans? because when the first crackdown happened illegal german immigrants in my area were caught and deported

illegal citizens are being treated as such, but in america a good deal of said illegals are mexican and south american which is why people are calling it a race issue

the truth is it's sort of dishonest and people fron other places are also being deported

We can stop right there. Your mother was English!!!!

So, of course you had the right of British citizenship.

But, why are you throwing that into the mix?

Illegal aliens are illegal aliens precisely because are in this country illegally and they have NO RIGHT TO CITIZENSHIP IN THE US...and neither do their children.
