I hear them griping about low wages, no jobs, student loans, high costs, no future, they feel effed over by baby boomers.

And yet they don’t vote. Lots of griping yet no action. So they let retirees decide to put a couple demented grandpas as the presidential options.

If young people would actually vote they could vote themselves a brighter future

There are gen x ers griping too.

Bitchiing away and then not voting.
The process is beneath them or the general "my vote dont count anyhow" crap.

Its a fair point, blue

Millennials, and certainly gen z, lack the basic trust of the boomer gen. If this year's voting 'irregularities' havent proven the system is at least some degree of rigged I really cant think what will. This is a hard pill to swallow for anyone, but especially so for older folks.

The millennials have found other avenues to achieve social change - and theyve been enormously successful in utilizing them. Apart from the usual percentage of uninterested and uninvolved, the movers, so to speak, have learned to focus elsewhere. Voting is very often another opium of the masses.

Old people vote in approximately a rate of 2x of young people, now I get that young people have to work etc but still...

So much griping about disenfranchisement, but then do they come out to vote for bernie during the primary? Nope. Come on people!

To a certain extent you get what you get then.

I guess if voting was done on instagram maybe young people would vote?

I also remember being in my early 20s and I totally had my head up my arse and didn't give a fluck about the news, but I still voted for presidents

Sure, Iowa is an example.

Well, recall the Occupy movement? The focus then was on corporate malfeasance, yes? Classic left wing beef. Now that same leftist faction is in bed with the those corps. I guess you could say they sold their souls but they identified a major controlling influence and utilized it. No votes necessary.

Schools eliminated Civics and Goverment as required subjects to graduate high school. They instituted a foreign language requirement and shot the students in the educational foot.

Ask a 16 yr old what civics means to them...

Baby boomers didn't do that.
Politicians did.

Nothing wrong with learning a foreign language. Most high schools all over the world have a foreign language requirement and seem to do just fine.

I personally do not blame the young people.

After all, they have been watching the democrats and the republicans going at each other for years, in a manner that suggest they are just different sides of the same coin.

There is no real dialogue on the political arena between the two camps.

No wonder the young people are confused.

What this country needs ia a third party. To break up that false and limited choice presented by the repubs vs the dems.

Belage, clearly I did NOT say a foreign language was bad.

It was a bad choice to eliminate civics and goverment class's. Then make the language a requirement instead.
