As you can see, President Trump's approval ratings have been higher, at the same time frame, than Obama's.
That, with the press laying down for Obama and the same press reporting negatively on President Trump from before his election and continuing till present day.
President Trump Still More Popular Than Obama at Same Point in Presidency

From the day Donald Trump declared his candidacy for President of the United States he faced an unprecedented media onslaught that unsuccessfully tried to sink his campaign.
As anyone with eyes and ears is aware, that has continued during his tenure as President. During his first hundred days in office, 89% of network coverage of the Trump presidency was negative.
For the entire year of 2018, coverage was 90% negative.
During the recent impeachment hysteria, media bias maxed out with 100% negative coverage. And yet despite that, following the House passing the articles of impeachment, President Trump was still more popular than Obama was at the same point in their respective presidencies (151 weeks in). Trump’s approval rating in late December was 45%, three percentage points higher than Obama’s at 42%.
A few months have passed since then, with the media’s focus now being on the Coronavirus. And again, despite the media pushing a cohesive narrative in opposition to the Administration’s response to the virus, he’s still maintaining a lead in popularity against Obama at this same point in their presidencies. According to Rasmussen Reports, Trump’s approval as of March 11th, 2020 is at 47%, while Obama’s was at 44% on March 11th, 2012. The figures as of yesterday were 48/44............
