12 million immigrated to Ellis island , NY and it was closed in 1954. Today 40 % of 330 million trace their ancestry back to this , island. I think this suspension is good. We have a great diversity currently. We need quality not quantity. Once we achieve quality -- like no street people in Seattle , eliminate hunger, reduce unemployement to manageable etc. Then I think we should reopen immigration.
Don't get me wrong -- 6 billion can accomodate in Texas or the Amazon rain forest and have a quality life. The issue is one too many is hungry or homeless and as a society it reflects poorly on us. IP: Logged |
