I hear your reasoning but I'm not convinced by it.
It's as simplistic as saying someone who has chain-smoked for 3 decades is entirely cleansed after a few weeks/months of quitting cold turkey because the primary effects on the lungs, skin... are reversed.
In depth damage touching the lungs, heart, brain even, may remain dormant (or not, just that you have to dig deep to see it) and still cause death even after years of quitting.
Everything organic keeps tabs, even when it regenerates (otherwise there would be no liver diseases) there's the now and the long run.
The air is cleaner, it hasn't mended the ozone layer, fish come back... but how many fish, in what health etc, etc...?
Irreversible has degrees, a journey, what lockdown has proved is that we still had room for improvement and recovery, it says nothing about total recovery.
Someone falls from a roof and survives, crippled. They live with irreversible damage.
You can't call the fall a scam just because they've reversed some of the damage by surviving and improving their spirits over time. They are forever impaired.

After being harangued by leftists for almost 50 years that auto emissions were fouling the air and causing irreparable harm to the earth, a few weeks of reduction...about 45%... in fossil fuel use clears the air.

Actually, emphysema isn't always seen right away, one can stop smoking, feel better, look better and yet emphysema is growing and if I follow your logic because that person thinks the threat of death was a scam they start smoking again and then... ^^
Thing is you only measure one element, there are lots of other consequences that you discard which makes the demonstration not serious.
I'm not saying the conclusion wouldn't be the same if you did take those into account, but not doing so makes your point moot.
Trees haven't grown back, glaciers haven't "iced back up"...
If anything lockdown proves that we can undo what we are actively doing at the moment. We pollute with cars, stop the cars, stop pollution, but for all the fauna/flora and elements we have destroyed.... they haven't grown back.
Show me the whole in the ozone layer being fully mended by a month of lockdown and I'll agree with you.

Just look at pollution, how just in one month Italy and China's air has cleared out, I mean if we quarantined once a year for a few weeks it would do wonders for pollution.
