Metropolitan D.C. Police have identified the man shot by a Secret Service officer outside the White House during the president’s press conference as Myron Berryman of Forestville, Md.

The 51-year-old, was unarmed when he was apprehended around 6 p.m. Monday after he allegedly shouted about wanting to kill people, then told a uniformed agent he had a weapon, according to a police report and the Secret Service.

Berryman then reportedly “ran aggressively toward the officer, and in a drawing motion, removed an object from his clothing (and) crouched into a shooter’s stance, as if about to fire a weapon,” Secret Service Uniformed Division Chief Tom Sullivan said.

Obviously, this is the act of a person who is mentally unstable.
