I disagree.

You threatened me to have me banned for your wrong interpretation of what the rules are relative to what I wrote.

So you owe me an apology.

I would never threaten to have anyone banned, as that is not within my power. People get themselves banned by their behaviour.

Please explain how my interpretation of your statement is wrong within the context of the rules. I will most definitely apologise if I am shown to be wrong.

She didn’t. She asked you to review the rules of the forum.

You engaged me erroneously.

Don't pretend you didn't make a mistake and don't own me an apology.

Two moderators have now asked you not to make discriminatory remarks. One (myself) asked you to review the rules, as by my understanding passing judgement on someone due to their sexuality is against the rules:

quote:
You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this bulletin board to post any material which is knowingly false and/or defamatory, inaccurate, racist, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, profane, sexually explicit, pornographic, threatening, personally insulting of any member, invasive of a person's privacy, or otherwise violative of any law.

http://www.linda-goodman.com/ubb/Forum37/HTML/000009.html

I have emailed another moderator to come and review our exchange. In the meantime it would help if you actually show me where you believe I have misinterpreted you. Simply repeating the statement is not helping us reach an understanding.

You continue to threaten me to have me banned for no reason.

I think you should be relieved of your moderator duties, immediately.

So others in the community are not harmed by you any more.

The rules are there to protect members from harm.

If you are not willing to explain how I have misinterpreted you then an understanding between us is not possible.

You don't know how you offended me and you won't know when you offend others in the community.

That's why you should be relieved of your duties.

@Voix and other mods, if passing judgement on someone based on their sexuality is against the rules, is it also against the rules to pass judgement on someone based on their religious beliefs? Because I have seen plenty of the latter going around here unmoderated.

And regarding the post of contention, the poster didn't say the person's sexuality was bad. He just mentioned it as one factor to explain a behavior. Are we not allowed to mention someone's sexuality at all But we are allowed to mention someone's religious affiliation to explain their behavior?

Not wanting to add fuel to the existing fire, but just trying to understand and navigate what is permitted or not, and wanting to see fair administration of the rules.

For the record, I didn't understand the sexual orientation reference either.

Though I understood the "foreign born" reference, because Thanksgiving is an American holiday, perhaps someone born elsewhere may not appreciate its significance for the American psyche. ETA: and the "no children" reference also, since this is such a family holiday.

All that said, I am sure there are people who are bisexual, foreign born and childless who are unhappy that Thanksgiving was banned...

It was a compound statement containing three variables.

One of which has the odds of 71:1 in the entire history of the USA and only 49:1 currently (see below).

That's an example of a statistical outlier and could be related to the issues in Oregon.

But the odds are much larger when including the other two variables.

It's like once in a lifetime odds never seen before in the history of the USA.

And just last Friday, 50 Antifa rioters destroyed Oregon business fronts after Oregon police defund orders.

What other states have these issues?

------------------------------------------

In total, 72 governors of a U.S. state have been born outside the current territory of the United States. Kate Brown of Oregon, born in Spain, is the only current governor to have been born outside the United States.

Secretgeek, I have explained to you more times than is reasonable why your statement is inappropriate and against the rules. I have given you the link to the rules twice and quoted the relevant section for you.

When asked how my evaluation of your statement is incorrect, you have ducked and dodged and continued to cry wolf about me threatening to ban you (of which you cannot provide any evidence because there is none).

It is clear to me that you do not have a justification for judging someone's decision-making ability based on their sexuality, other than simply expressing prejudice toward those who are bisexual.

Teenagers and young people who are going through a critical developmental stage of their life, of which sexuality formation is a part, come to Lindaland. How do you think they would feel to read your statement?

The rules exist to ensure Lindaland is a safe (and legally-sound) place for all who wish to join. All members have a personal responsibility to follow them, moderators have the responsibility of following them and facilitating them.

My conduct in this situation is exactly what I agreed to do when I became a moderator. Fitness to moderate is not defined by whether you like the moderator's decisions or not, it is defined by the LL rules.

If you don't like the LL rules then I suggest you have a discussion with the webmaster.

I can't be around someone that's prejudice against gender.

At this stage, I'm not sure what action I will take, but I will see to it that I don't have to put up with your abuse.

Hopefully, no one else has to be abused by you.

I've sought advice from Randall (webmaster).

I was hoping this would resolve of its own accord. Mods point out the rules when they see infractions. Don’t take it personally. Taken as written and with no accompanying context, what you said could have been interpreted as discriminatory. It wasn’t overt, as in a explicitly direct statement against orientation. Nevertheless, it was implicit in nature. I’m certainly not endorsing political correctness on this site. For example, the woke crowd is now saying that even using the term “sexual preference” is offensive. The woke are a joke! But mods aren’t attacking when they give a reminder about the rules. So, I hope this settles it, and we can all move forward. Onward and upward.

The Oregon governor says you can only have 6 people from no more than two households for Thanksgiving and is encouraging neighbors to call the police. You can have 10 for a funeral. So, people are calling it a funeral for their turkey! Someone needs to remind this tyrant that a police officer may not enter without a warrant.

If you celebrate Thanksgiving with family and friends and violate the ban, say you're organizing a BLM protest. You'll be fine.

Thanks for your input Randall. Happy to move on, no problem.
