Clearly, all these officials caught violating their own orders know that masks and other requirements are not backed by science and simply do not work--or else they would be following the requirements themselves, wouldn't they?

I doubt that is their reasons. Probably more to do with thinking they know better how to bend the rules. Arrogance, if you ask me.

Besides, they are in the vast minority. Why do you think the vast majority of officials and experts are following the guidelines?

I can only think of 3 'officials' who have broken the guidelines in Scotland. At least one had to resign.

The list is getting rather long here. And there is the hot mic issue where two of them were about to give a speech, and put on the masks, and called it "political theater." And Governor Newsom was dining with several members of the California Medical Association, none of whom were social distancing or wearing masks. What do they know that we don’t?
