Fascinating read. Fascinating case.

From what I gather, the prosecution fought to keep so many details and evidences and testimonies from being admitted into the record or even heard by the jury...

The entire group of kidnappers was so full of informants. And since nowadays, no one with common sense trusts the Government, entrapment seemed like a real possibility with that many informants egging the defendants on to commit crimes, so the jury didn't convict.
