After going for the criminals first, I think they should adopt a carrot/stick approach.CARROT: Voluntary departure. If illegals turn themselves in: -they will not face penalties -they will be put on a plane back to their homeland free of charge -with a stipend (for instance $1000 per adult and $500 per child) to resettle there. Additional carrot: They might even be eligible to legally apply for re-entry to the US after 2 or 3 years, but with no guarantee that it will be granted nor how long it would take to get a legal visa. STICK: if they do not turn themselves in and we have to go look for them and get them -then they will flown back -they will not get the stipend -they will never be able to legally apply for a visa for entry.
I think having an incentive will help the process move smoothly. For those who think giving a $1000 stipend per adults is too much, it will still be less than what we are spending on having them here. IP: Logged |

There’s a lot to like about that strategy. From his last term, we know that President Trump is tough but fair. In his last term, he wanted to give DACA immigrants a pathway to citizenship and added even more than Dems wanted, but the Dems couldn’t give him a win with the wall, so they said no. I think he will work something out that is balanced. IP: Logged |
