The stop gap bill that lasts until March 14 passed with an overwhelming super majority! It's at 363 yays so far, and Dems also overwhelmingly supported it. The only nays at this moment are 34, and they are all Republicans!

The Senate is expected to pass it before midnight.

Biden fully supports this bill and will sign it.

Congratulations to the Republicans--who got everything that they wanted (removal of all pork), except for lifting the debt ceiling. It's 118 pages long and includes farm bill provisions and disaster relief.

THE ART OF THE DEAL: President Trump "demanded" suspension of the debt ceiling for two years. Dems are now claiming this is a huge win for them because the debt ceiling suspension was removed from the bill. Was it really? Or did President Trump add that only as a negotiating ploy? Brilliant!

So, there's going to be fight over the debt ceiling in the next Congress. Will that hamper President Trump's agenda?

It will in the short-term, but President Trump will win in the end. Those $4 trillion in tax cuts count as expenditures, even though the first time around, the government received more in revenues than were lost in tax reductions!

Mike Johnson is not equipped to be House Speaker. If President Trump allows him to keep the job, it'll hurt the President and his agenda. Big mistake!

Johnson was on the phone with President Trump most of the time of this last vote, and Johnson called Musk. He will likely be replaced. Those tax reforms will be a huge win!

The Senate passed it 37 minutes after midnight.

We may be stuck with Johnson because President Trump cannot be confirmed without a House Speaker.

Trump allies blame Johnson after spending bill drama

quote:
“Every single Democrat voted with Johnson. If this is a win, what exactly does a loss look like?” the person added.

Trump himself, who notably has not yet issued a statement about the new bill’s passage, is frustrated that his one demand was not met — despite clear messages warning that lawmakers who opposed it would be primaried — one person who spoke with him on Friday told Semafor.

Not everyone is piling on Johnson: Trump hasn’t said anything about him publicly yet (and might not). Musk also wrote on X that Johnson “did a good job here, given the circumstances.”

But the public and private discontent against Johnson, coupled with Trump’s general discontent, is a major warning sign for the House leader. Johnson can lose at most two votes in the upcoming leadership race. Right now, he seems likely to lose more than that.
