I've seen a pattern of a poster who has a habit of derailing threads and debasing the conversation. Sweet interactions among people are turned negative and crass due to this poster. This forum is supposed to be about "Global Unity." Unfortunately, this is an unhealthy person who consistently sows discord and for a long time has generated an unhealthy environment for everyone. Is this okay with you?

It’s not, but the balance between free expression and depriving others of the safety of sharing their own is a delicate and mechanism to maintain. More leeway is allowed in GU, as opposed to other forums, where such behavior would result in a swift ban. GU can get heated, so free expression of the unpopular opinions of those we do not agree with is paramount. We won. Justice will be meted out. Transformation is on its way. In our celebration, let us always remain mindful that the other side doesn’t handle losing very well. Many eyes were opened in this election. More will see clearly throughout the next four years. Let us be gracious winners and never lose our thankfulness and gratitude, nor our compassion and understanding.IP: Logged |

You aren’t new, and you’ve seen how crass other people here are to me, and other liberals. You’ve seen how crass the man is, that you elected. I wasn’t even going to visit yesterday, normally I don’t derail holiday threads, and in other forums, conversations happen. I’ve had issues with the people you’ve agreed with wholeheartedly, in their treatment of people you don’t like, but I had no intention of trying to get them banned. this forum has rarely shown any kind of real unity, except for when one poster was dying in 2006. Trump voters have also mostly been sore losers. Like the f*ck your feelings crowd. Remember that? You won, but you’re looking for people to be court martialed. You think that shows any kind of unity? Nobody looked to your guy to end divisiveness, because he likes it. You described the man you voted for.

It’s really strange when religious people uphold “the greatest story ever told” Jesus’ birth, and then vote to deport millions of immigrants. I think that’s crass. When they want to put a number of people to death, as they claim to be pro-life. I’d love to see some kindness, and understanding towards liberals. I’d love to see a lack of hatred towards us. Can you do that? Can you be kind when it comes to liberal politicians who do not agree with you? To liberal posters who don’t agree with you? Try it, walk your talk. Because I used to. But I’ve been on the receiving end of so much sh*t, it isn’t the way I’m wired anymore. Not here. I won’t hold my breath, waiting for you to be kind to us. Or me, since everyone else was smart enough to leave. I also love how you posted this, when I was thinking about making my own exit from this part of the site, in a week. People deserve to be courtmartialed, imprisoned, executed, and deported. It has nothing to do with being crass. Justice demands it. And people like you were okay with getting rid of President Trump “at any cost,” but when it’s time to pay for your own crimes—real crimes—you yell unity. I agree that freedom of expression is a very important value. Where I disagree is I don't think one person's freedom of speech gives them the "right" to sabotage or derail a thread, or degrade the level of discourse, or to disregard ANY consideration of others. It sounds like you're willing to allow any kind of behavior no matter how low for the sake of freedom of expression. Evidently there is no line drawn. Of course, this is your prerogative. But, there's a difference between freedom of expression and accepting unlimited expression of a person's lowest impulses. That is not compassion. By the way, I mean no disrespect, nor to be unfriendly or harsh: Talk about compassion, you might consider taking your own advice in your interactions with this person.  IP: Logged |

Oh, but there is a line drawn. The individual in question was warned for the final and last chance to remain when astrology threads were derailed with political agendas. GU has more latitude for just that reason. And as far as compassion goes, some people just seem to be miserable, and allowing them to vent is an act of compassion in and of itself. IP: Logged |

I don’t enjoy being miserable, we have been dealing with a lot, and you have no idea of some of the things I’m going through. Other threads were overtaken by different political things, it wasn’t just me. I also wasn’t miserable on Christmas Day, when I posted here. I loved this place when I was first here, and I was followed off-site whenever I left, by someone causing trouble for me. I’m not here to cause trouble, never have been (you know it), and here in GU, I’ve been hated since I started to behave like a couple of members who aren’t around right now. It just isn’t appreciated when it comes from me. I used to think the people here were friends, pretty much, including me, until three or four years ago. I also stand by what I said: I don’t see why liberals should be expected to kowtow to trump supporters, when you all drag most liberal politicians, and us. One or two liberals who enjoyed getting head pats as “sensible democrats” moved to MAGA, and abandoned what they believed in, eight years ago. I don’t need the head pats. I have very rarely been rude to you, if ever. I didn’t earn the bad treatment. And that goes for everyone here. IP: Logged |

Sometimes I wonder if anyone who wasn't involved in what happened in 2017, or 2010, knew what she was up to. She had me walking on eggshells for years, including when I was afraid my mum was dying, and *after* she died, just months after, when I had been suspicious but unsure, and was just trying to put things behind me. Bygones. So stupid of me. She tried to get me to dump friends, and tried to get them to dump me. All that emotional stress, and I never knew her offline, or online really. I don't know how many people were really her. I wonder how far she would have gone to just have me get off the internet, because she took a strong dislike to me. Someone who came for me over a year ago, told me that I should leave, ten years ago. But supported her. IP: Logged |
