SCOTUS mentioned this case in its presidential immunity decision, so for that reason alone (and there were many others), it should have been thrown out. This poor excuse for a judge is addicted to the spotlight. That being said, while the conviction will stand (for now), there will be no jail time or any punishment at all under the judge’s conditional discharge. The sentence allows President Trump to appeal all of the court’s errors instead of staying in limbo, and Merchan is going to look like an idiot when all of those errors are exposed in the appeal. Even in radical New York, I can’t believe that the appellate court will want to go down in history to be a part of this legal chicanery. If not, surely the New York Supreme Court will wipe out the conviction. And if the entire court system in New York is completely corrupt, then SCOTUS will clear President Trump’s name. Thanks for giving the Republicans political ammunition for the mid-terms, you hack!IP: Logged |
