Nope, this is just for show. He’s not actually going to impose more sanctions on Russia. Trump is picking a fight with Canada and Europe is going to support Canada. Maybe some short lived sanctions, but he will immediately blame Europe of manipulation tactics and cozy up even further with Russia.

President Trump already showed that he would impose those sanctions on Putin. He even shut down Putin's pipeline! Did he not? Biden opened it back up! Those sanctions are still in place, but Biden refused to enforce them because he was weak af. And yes, it is being used as a threat because threats work when Putin knows President Trump will follow through. Watch what happens when the "carrot or the stick" approach is instituted. The war is about to end. Death and destruction will cease. Why doesn't that make you happy?
