Before the clink clink of NPR disabling the comments under the video I posted above, here are some of the best comments I have found:
-*- NPR reporting their own demise. *chef's kiss
-*- NPR has the sweet irony of reporting its own slow death ... and some say their is no god.
-*- They still calling him “Maryland Man” instead of “Alleged Human Trafficker”. Such garbage reporting.
-*- It always bothered me that taxpayer money was being utilized to support reporting that was consistently and almost always far left of center.
-*- THIS is awesome! Finally a "feel good" story, out of NPR.
-*- First time I've hit the thumbs up for NPR.
-*- When a public station funded by tax dollars becomes the right arm of one political party, it absolutely should not be funded by taxpayers! It should have been cut loose years ago!
-*- Thanks for the update on the media's " Maryland Man" ... The El Salvadorian human trafficking Ms-13 gang member 😂😂😂 NPR deserves to lose its funding !!! Keep up the stellar unbiased
-*- Best news i heard all day! No more of my tax dollars paying for your propaganda!
-*- Good! It was past due!!! Make your own money!!! Stop using our tax payer money against us!
-*- The chickens are finally coming home to roost at PBS and NPR! There's a "price" for being biased and you are finding out!
-*- NPR did not remain neutral, thus they paid a price. It is warranted.
-*- Hey, NPR, are you reading these comments?? Americans are not stupid. Don't try to tell us that you weren't biased, we heard it with our own ears. You treated your listeners with arrogance and disdain, and your TDS lost you a billion dollars. Well-deserved outcome!
-*- The Maryland man 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 😂😂
-*- This is a win for the American taxpayer, I listen to NPR when I want to hear what the left has to say, it’s quality broadcasting but is definitely very biased and should not receive federal funds.
-*- About F-ing time! They aren’t neutral or even open-minded anymore.
NPR
National
Palestinian
Radio
-*- big win! less government propaganda is always best for the country. nice job NPR! You virtue'd your way into less money..
-*- The fact that you guys still calling him "Maryland Man", when you all know dam well that he is from El Salvador, is exactly the reason why you are loosing your funding.
-*- NPR & PBS, you shouldn't have been so left wing. Way too biased for years. Get your own funding or sell ads like the rest of the stations do.
AND THE BEST OF THEM ALL:
-*- An open letter to NPR. First, I would leave this comment on your webpage, or your YouTube channel, or on PBS’ channel, but all of those locations blocked comment long ago. I know because I have been a fan of NPR since I was in my teens. I grew up in a rural area and drove tractors while listening to Bob Edwards, Diane Rehm, Click and Clack, Talk of the Nation, Science Friday, Terri Gross, Prairie Home Companion, and of course, All Things Considered. Your hosts and interviewers became like friends and family to me. I was so refreshed by the thoughtful, in depth coverage that I believed was among the most bias free at the time that even when I absolutely couldn’t afford it, I was a financial supporter. I could go on and on about how political influence crept into your coverage I first felt it during the 2008 democratic primaries. It was deeply entrenched and virulent by the 2016 democratic primaries. And of course it has gotten worse all the way through the 2024 elections. But I don’t have to tell you that because you obviously dialed back the rhetoric after The results of 2024 were in. Not enough, you’re still a far cry from the gold standard NPR once set, but it is clear you knew that your funding was in jeopardy and so you reeled in the most heated rhetoric you had been displaying in the months and years leading up to the election. Sad to see a paragon cower. All I can say is that I hope you will own it. I hope if you’re happy with what you’ve become, you keep it up. But if you’re not, if you’re angry you’ve lost public funding, that you’ll look at your leadership and realize that you’ve gone astray. I feel like we needed you to be who you were. We don’t need another organization posing as a source of news who pushes a political agenda. Once upon a time the American people and their government felt it too. And they provided funding to that end. Now, they don’t feel they are getting it and they are cutting that funding. I hope that NPR will not frame this as censorship and play the victim though I don’t have much confidence in that. I hope you will dig deep, get rid of those who have led you astray, and get back to nonpartisan, spirit filling, intellectually nourishing content that all truth seekers, it just those from a specific political persuasion, can get behind.
