Kash Patel: “We are going to clean up Washington, DC. And we are going to do it the right way, the lawful way, and we are going to make sure Washington, DC is safe again.”

Bondi is taking over the police under Section 40 of the Home Rule Act.

It will not end today. They aren’t arresting themselves.

And as I said in another thread: crime has consistently gone down in D.C. why are we expected to just believe them? They lie all the time. They are lying about crime in D.C.

Wrong! Crime has gone way up. I responded to your false claim on the other thread.

Exactly! This is about suppressing people's right to protest peacefully. It's unconstitutional. Trump is threatening democratic cities, not because of crime, but for control. It's authoritarianism.

The most dangerous cities in the US are Memphis, St Louis and Little Rock. This is not about crime.

Wrong again, clueless one. This is about our nation’s capital, which is not a state. Home Rule allows it, so it is totally legal. Educate yourself before you spout off nonsense. Stop protesting? Protesters are there right now. Do you just make stuff up?

The article gives a link to where they got their data and here it is: https://mpdc.dc.gov/page/district-crime-data-glance

They typically aggregate homicides under violent crimes, but for the general public, the most worrisome of crimes is HOMICIDE, because there is no recovering from being killed. Also while all other crimes can be undereported, you cannot underreport a homicide.

Now, according to the stats listed, 2024 saw 187 homicides in DC.

However, the table titled "20-Year Homicide Trend" shows that the following years each had less than 187 homicides:
2019 2018 2017 2016 2015 2014 2013 2012 2011 2010 2009 2008 2007 2006

Simply put, more people died of homicide in 2024 in DC than in the years 2019 2018 2017 2016 2015 2014 2013 2012 2011 2010 2009 2008 2007 2006!

Therefore the statement that crime reached a 30 years low does not jibe with people's actual perception of crime and does not allay their fear of crime.

I remember about many weeks ago, the DC police commander was suspended, accused of changing crime statistics to make it look like crime was going down:
https://www.nbcwashington.com/news/local/dc-police-commander-suspended-crime-s tatistics/3959566/
quote:
“When our members respond to the scene of a felony offense where there is a victim reporting that a felony occurred, inevitably there will be a lieutenant or a captain that will show up on that scene and direct those members to take a report for a lesser offense,” Fraternal Order of Police Chairman Gregg Pemberton said. “So, instead of taking a report for a shooting or a stabbing or a carjacking, they will order that officer to take a report for a theft or an injured person to the hospital or a felony assault, which is not the same type of classification.”

Also:
https://www.police1.com/union/union-d-c-police-commander -was-involved-in-altering-crime-statistics-prior-to-suspension

quote:
The Fraternal Order of Police (FOP), which represents D.C. officers, has raised concerns about what it says is a broader practice of manipulating crime classifications to show declines in violent crime. FOP Chairman Gregg Pemberton said officers are frequently instructed by supervisors to downgrade serious felony reports to lesser offenses.

The union claims the practice is being directed by the MPD command staff in an effort to keep reported crime figures low.

According to MPD data reviewed Monday, violent crime in D.C. was reported as down 28% compared to the same time last year. By Thursday, the figure was listed at 25%, with overall crime down 8%.

Pemberton called the numbers misleading.

“There’s absolutely no way crime could be down 28%. Last year they suggested that it went down 34%,” he said.

And the saddest thing is that the Wards 7 and 8 of DC which are predominantly black, have been disproportionately impacted by violent crime and homicides.

It's like the liberals think it is okay for black neighborhoods to be crime ridden while the rest of them live safer lives in their predominantly white communities. Black Lives Matter... Not!
