I don’t have a link, but the basic story has been all over the news. The driver can speak no English, and he was given a truck license in California (and another state). He attempted a u-turn, and the car behind him crashed into the truck, killing everyone inside. They never had a chance. President Trump is pulling federal funds for any state that gives truck licenses to anyone who can’t speak/read English. The police had actually pulled him over and failed to administer an English test, which they are required to do by law. He was arrested and sent to Florida for trial. Dems are saying it was an accident. No, it was negligence, and he never should have had s license in the first place because he can’t read street signs.IP: Logged |

Three million people signed a petition asking for clemency or lesser charges, saying that he had no criminal intent! Sean Duffy gave three states (Washington, California, and New Mexico) today a warning that if they do not require an English proficiency test, they will lose federal funds (all other states have complied). The DOT has total power to do this, as well as well as a state losing other rights IP: Logged |

India has about 1.4 billion people, and about 33 millions Punjabi speakers, so i am not surprised he can get that kind of online signature support. Regardless, I took a look at the petition and what it asks. They are asking for clemency "This was a tragic accident — not a deliberate act,"..."While accountability matters, the severity of the charges against him does not align with the circumstances of the incident.". The petition is off base. Harjinder Singh has been charged with 3 counts (1 count for each of the victims) of vehicular homicide, to which they added 3 counts of vehicular manslaugther. The severity of the charges do align with the circumstances of the incident. because none of these charges imply intent to kill. IP: Logged |

Correct. That petition sounds legally flawed.IP: Logged | |
