Rightly so.

If people want to have an Indigenous People day, it's fine, but they should not hijack Columbus Day for that purpose. They need to lobby Congress or the Senate to have an official day made for Indigenous People.

What does that mean? You can still post on social media Happy Indigenous People Day if you want, you are not posting in any official or legal capability, so enjoy your freedom of speech in this wonderful country of ours!

When President Trump signed the Proclamation and announced that he was bringing back Columbus Day, the press applauded! I've never heard the press applaud before! Italian Americans like Columbus Day.
