I know plenty on the Left who have recoiled from what the Left has become, the far left that is coddled and walked on eggshells around by many to most Democrats. Plenty who identified as Leftists are horrified and have left it. That doesn't necessarily mean they went Right (they may just be "homeless"), but it often does.As many (like Bill Maher, and I know plenty of people face to face saying the same thing) have said, the Left left them by going bat **** insane.
I've been nudged Right in a few ways, such as leftist programs I used to support like MAID in Canada (euthanasia, which I thought of as death with dignity for those dying anyway, and only if desired by the one dying, but then became used to target the homeless as well as even getting an otherwise healthy man in his 20s with diabetes to just kill himself instead, among other problems that make it impossible for me to support) and drug decriminalization in Oregon which turned out as the Right said they would. Such were failed experiments and it nudges me more to the Right.
On top of that was seeing the pro-crime of Democrats in more ways than one (and crime stats officially remain low in Democrat areas since police refuse to arrest many, and those they do arrest are frequently let go without charges, thus encouraging more criminal behavior). That's infuriating to see, and then the news trying to brush it under the carpet (but the live footage by people with a cam and the security cams don't lie).
It used to be if it bleeds it leads, but news now puts propaganda first, and report in a way to fit a political narrative over public information. They have the audacity to call their misinformation "news." (This includes Trump derangement with many misleading headlines.)
But I'm still Center, though I think I'm now Center-Right rather than Center-Left. That said, the Left keeps going further Left so it seems I've shifted more to the Right than I actually have. I'm not the only one.
Charlie Kirk wasn't the first time the Left celebrated murder/assassination (and called for more of it), but he was the most obvious with thousands celebrating (often under the real names and faces) with a half million likes, memorials vandalized and destroyed, and just being demonic. I wasn't that familiar with him, but I became so right after as I then tracked down his content to make up my own mind. Charlie definitely wasn't a Nazi (and he rejected Nazis that tried to join with him), nor a hate monger. At least I never saw it, and I often saw what the YT algorithm showed, YT known for Leftist favoritism so I'm sure they'd show his hate if it was there to show.
I just remembered, the children who drowned in the Texas flood were even celebrated by some. Blaming it on Trump was also done. It's like they can't hold it inside their head unless it's about tearing down Trump and any who might support him.
Sometimes a glimmer of the Old Left shows through among Democrats, but they get cannibalized by their own party fast enough. (Bill Maher still calls it out, and he also condemns the murder of Charlie Kirk.)
And then there's how illegal aliens are actually preferred to legal aliens by the Left, and how messed up it is to demand to stay in the US while wrapping themselves in foreign flags. (Or how foreign crime syndicates have perverted America's system to handling migrants and refugees, which is victimizing their own people as well as spreading crime to the USA.) Hasan showing up at the latest riots in LA (can't even call it the LA riots as one would have to ask, "Which one?") and saying things like let the streets run red with capitalist blood (and stores owned and operated by LEGAL migrants destroyed in the riots) is just more sour seasoning on the intolerable insanity of the Left.
Speaking of which, America will PAY illegal aliens return back to the country that Democrats apparently think is better than the USA and even allow you to try again LEGALLY in the future. No fascist country has ever done that. USE it. Don't wrap yourself in foreign flags while burning the US flag and say you deserve to be here!
Anyone on the Left who thinks they're reasonable has spent far too long in their echo chamber. And many are leaving them, even some who thought they never would.
I should add that I visited family (many of whom are MAGA) in June-July, and they were refreshingly sane and tolerant of different opinions compared to the Far Left (so I don't believe Leftist propaganda on how evil MAGA supposedly are, the same propaganda that gets people murdered to the cheers of the propagandists). They were worried I'd have disowned them since they knew I didn't vote Trump but they did. I am not the member of a cult so I did not disown them for voting Trump. (And I'd vote for Trump now, at least against the usual suspects in Washington DC.)
I've also been pleasantly surprised by a lot that Trump has accomplished (and the recent peace treaty is amazing, I didn't think it possible!). I don't support everything, and even my MAGA relatives have points in which they disagree with Trump, but overall, they're happy, and I do think we're better off than we would've been under Kamala Harris (who I also could not bring myself to vote for). Even some things Trump has done that make me uneasy may be necessary because of what Biden-Harris did between Trump presidencies.
I could go on but I'm getting tired and I think this is long enough. These are just SOME of the reasons many, including myself, have abandoned the Left.
