Most was bad. However, I do treasure the lovely times. Very few, and far apart, but precious; however most of my happy childhood memories are from my completely alone with myself times. I learned young, that I had to learn to love and enjoy my own company, because I knew it would take beyond a feat of the thaumaturgic to find anyone else who could trump or equal that. ------------------

Speaking of grandfathers--copied and pasted from a post of mine in a string in HC:Well, I had less than a happy childhood--not horrid, but not particularly pleasant. My mom tried, and my dad was not much of one, but my grandfather was amazing. He made up for everything else. He and I had a love for butterflies. I wish he had been able to see the butterfly exhibit at Calloway Gardens nearby. Anyway, when he died, it took my life in a tailspin. It ripped my heart to shreds. I couldn't break free from the sadness. Then one day (like two weeks later) at the mall in the parking lot (with no plantlife anywhere around) a beautiful colorful butterfly landed on my hand. It was stunning. I moved my hand by instinct, but it didn't fly away. It seemed to look up at me as it flapped its wings slowly. I had a rush of peace and happiness fill me from head to toe, because in that instant I knew that this was a sign from my grandfather that not only is he still around (death is not the end), but that he is also watching over me...and I knew everything would be okay, which is what he wanted to let me know. yes, on the most part...ah, childhood, grandparents were wonderful my mother always did everything she could, she made my childhood as comfortable as possible because she lived with an abuser until i was around 7 i think. i really cant remember much, luckily i found out later he wasn't my father, my father turned out to be his beautiful brother. i used to wake in the night hearing my 'dad' screaming at my mother, threatening her, punching holes in things, going nuts i dont recall much of my early childhood, sometimes it spooks me because i want to remember but i cant i remember being 3, and having thought liks 'i can control my heart and it will never stop beating, so i will live forever, people die because they dont know how to keep their heart beating'... I almost drowned, was bitten by a dog, I remember those things of course... But my mother, 'father', family time, our interactions.....nil. supression? maybe, i don't know. i want an explanation as to why i don't remember 99% of it. ------------------ “It’s an interesting thing. Yet, it takes a tremendous amount of courage to make such a “simple” act important. Now, the lotus is floating away.” IP: Logged |

Thanks, SC. Last night I dreamed of a butterfly that landed on my hand. Someone tried to hit it to push it away (and touched it), and I said, "No!" The butterfly tucked its head under from the hit. Then it raised its head back up (it was okay), and it flew on my bottom lip (my mouth was open). The butterfly was the star of the dream, but also the color was significant. It was a very vivid bright blue color.------------------ "No pain, no palm; no thorns, no throne; no gall, no glory; no cross, no crown." William Penn IP: Logged |
