I concur with Moonwitch's "consenting adults" comment. Unless there is an age gap, that is, and then the dissenters swoop in. ------------------

I think it is the time to discuss the form of the debate, lol (that's ironic)like all gay people, I am used to live in an hetero world, so don't worry, gays will wait for your accord, and keep asking politely!!!  IP: Logged |

Thank you for all the kindness you have shown me! Even in the "Family",
I was/am not totally accepted.
It's never easy being other than pure hetero,
or even not 100% one gender or other physically, whether by accident of birth, or reassignment.
We are too often discriminated against and misunderstood by too many heteros and experience the equivalent of race discrimination and bigotry.

Right - waiting for those who aren't on board, to give them permission to do/have something they should have every right to, in the first place.

Thanks, AC, for some reason the way it was worded confused me. I believe eventually the US will do the right thing and allow people to marry regardless of sexual preference. Judging someone by their sexual preference is like judging a person because of their skin color, the size of their nose, height, weight, etc. I don't believe gay people choose to be gay. I just believe it is who they are and to be able to love and accept yourself as you are is beautiful. My past 30th birthday, my cousin wanted to take me to a Christian church, my birthday landed on a Sunday so I figured what the hell, I will go. It was a terrible experience for me, too loud and crowded, people staring at me because I had jeans on and not my "Sunday's best", someone even asked me if I'd "like to be saved" ummm, because I have jeans on means I'm not "saved"? There is a point to all this be patient So anyhow, the preacher asks this one gentleman to stand up during the sermon and he goes to the guy "Are you a son?" the guy goes "yes", "Are you a Father?" the guy goes "yes" "Are you a husband" the guy goes "yes" then the preacher quickly says "the husband to a woman right?" and the WHOLE church including the guy ROARS in laughter. The preacher then goes on to say, "these people are lost because God has chosen to cut them off completely! They are an abomination! The crowd continues to cheer and clap. I felt like throwing up and wanted to walk out. The man behind me was especially enthused about what was going on, cheering and rooting, perhaps because he himself is in the closet and may not even know it. I believe this is why there are hate crimes towards gay people, the people commiting these acts are in denial about being homosexual and it angers them to see people self accepting and out of the closet. Needless to say I learned on my 30th birthday that I'd never walk into any Christian church again. Gay bashing in what is supposed to be the "Lord's House"? SMH

Many of the arguments against gay marriage (including that it will "open the door to incest") was made before in the case of interracial marriage.
