Was reading AARP's rules for over 50 and I am breaking most of their old folk's rules of how to dress, act, live, love, who to love.......gods! What is it with the act your age bullshite?????????????? Ewwwwwwww!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If I gross out young and old because I do things that make me not a proper over 50 year old...... WELL I DO NOT CARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am just being myself not some fraking stereotype of what others expect! I love, live, laugh, dress, do as I desire and age has nothing to do with it! Age is a state of mind So change your mind; especially as to what you think over 50 year old folks should be like! I will be 57 on November 3rd., and I am not done learning, living, loving, and it is not denial of being older...... but since when does one have to embrace becoming the stereotypical idea of what folks think an over 50 year old person should be like? I so wanted to puke reading the rules for over age 50, the do and do not do things. OK rant over for now.

you only act your age if your an actor....i'm 21 and i dont "act" like any other 21 year oldedit: you know, this question crosses my mind a lot...how does any particular age act??? ------------------ I once saw a sign that said "sin is death" but if "all deaths are suicide (linda goodman)" and suicide is sin, then shouldnt "death is sin" be more appropriate? when organic is used to describe food then you know we have come to a dark age in history IP: Logged |

You and your husband are some of the few "young minded" folks over 50! Keep on being so! Yes, even though I am disabled I too often do things on my own. However any adjustments are due to having become disabled at age 33, NOT because I am soon to be age 57!IP: Logged |

Society gives conflicting ideas of what each age should act like. The young are supposed to look young but act all mature. The older are supposed to "act their age" but look young......and botox and surgery their way to such. Gods I hate such utter insanity. Just be yourselves! Frake the age issue! IP: Logged |

Not sure why they picked age 50. Often it is geared towards rich folks who can retire young. I do not see it being of much of any use to poor folks. Some prescription drug plans and dental/vision insurance offers might be OK.IP: Logged |

My mum is turning 60 this year, my Dad is already over 60; their friends are about their own age, with one befriended couple being over 80. The 80plus couple just bought a caravan and are travelling all over Europe all the time.my parents are like they always were; I cannot really see a difference to when they were in their 40`s (except for some more ailments, but they rarely complain). I don`t know maybe they do act their age, maybe not. I am totally uncertain how they SHOULD act to act their age. They are still going out, still (maybe even more so) discuss and argue about political and philosophical things, still will start to suddenly dance with each other in the livingroom when a nice song is being played in the radio. So I really don`t know. Who makes these rules? And Lexx that older fellow that was pursuing you sounded really stupid. Did he really think he would impress you with saying something likek this? Insults and educational advice is very rarely the way to win a personīs heart I think. IP: Logged |
