Lex,

I just saw your response in the "liar" thread, and noticed that you wrote to me:

quote:
anongirl10
I received 4 e-mail notices that you had replied 4 times.
Seems that this thread is dropping posts.

Just to clarify: 1) I did not email you or anyone, 2) I only responded once (the post about the possible reason for consolation).
I am hardly on LL these days; I simply posted my post and didn't check back until now. So I don't know where the 4 responses came from nor the emails. It's not important; I'm just informing you of my actions. It could be part of the bug that you got 4 responses and I don't know your email so I have no clue how you got emails from me.

cheers

Yes 4 webmaster responses came in my e-mail.
Those are generated automatically when one posts if the e-mail on the account was set to allow such notices.

lexx, do you have a virus in your computer?

You appear to be followed by a gremlin so perhaps it`s in your computer

No gremlins lol.
It happens even when I use another computer,
private or public to log into my e-mail.

Perhaps I`m not seeing others with the problem so it`s best to ask : are you the only one having the glitchs?

Some (many other)threads are umpteen pages long and many graphics and such so was wondering....

Randall, last I knew, said there are a few such glitchings all over LL.
You did not notice????????????

It has been happening all over for some time.
But yeah............
IT DOES LOOK ODDLY SUSPICIOUS....
So many of MY threads being hit.

I have quite awhile ago voiced that concern to Randall.
He assured me that it is happening to others
and that no one(s) is/are screwing with my threads.
And I too have seen it happening to others,
not just me.

I didn`t notice the glitching. I did in the past but of late haven`t.

I asked because one time I had repeat messages in my inbox and it was AG or maybe Node who explained how malware does it by entering your address book.

And indeed it was malware. So, in essence, I wondered if that was the prob

Malware would not hit other computers not in my home,
friends, pucblic, etc.
when I log into my hotmail or any account.
I even changed my e-mail to two others to see if that fixed the notification troubles,
nope,
still happening.
So it cannot be my computer can it?
And vanishing posts cannot be caused by my computer or malware.

I guess as a mod you have this notification option, because the rest of us do not have it. If you get multiples of notifications for the same new post here, it's a bug in the way the server handles notifications. Sometimes it's the way your email server communicates with the web server of this site. So in that sense, it could be related to the bug of vanishing posts, which is still a glitch/bug on the server.

By malware, possible. Your computer, unlikely, since the posts are not saved on your computer. Unless you are somehow editing and saving the posts on your computer and then upload them here, I don't see this likely. But malware can creep in from almost anywhere. Like with a virus, sometimes you have no clue that you carry malware on your computer and might be infecting others n the process (usually via email or from site to site).

I had the e-mail notification ever since I signed up in March 2005,
long long before I was ever a moderator.
How can that be?
II thought everyone had that option as I have had it going on 7 years.

And the rest just makes no sense at all.
And all e-mail servers,
hotmail, gmail, yahoo.....
all screwing up?
Unlikely.

And it makes no difference from any computer I log in from.

Anon, lexx is speaking specifically of her personal "new topics" You have an option there for e mail notification when someone replies . We all have this new topic option

Hmm, I hadn't noticed it and since I have registered no email account on my profile I don't see how that would work.
I don't remember my profile but I will check it out. Pretty sure I have not ticked that box though. Probably I forgot it exists. ;-)

PS: OK, I just checked it. I have registered no email in my profile. Saw the box under a "new topic" but as I said I never use it since I have linked no email to my profile.

Anon, no wonder then I`m not sure the no email would stop the noticication when you check it on the new reply. Guess you would have to try it and see if so.

lexx, I mean this from concern and kindness and certainly NOT to lesson your tribulations ...

maybe the Uni-verse is nudging you to let the sun shine in and focus on what`s good, positive energy to help your angst take a back seat to your inate love and goodness

Maybe there's a glitch within the site connected to your name somehow. You could try registering and posting under a different version of your name and see if that helps.

examples:

Lexx
LexX
Le~xx
L.E.X.X.

No need to try! LOL
Simple logic. If you turn on the notification, and there is no email linked, the program doesn't know where to send the notification. LOL
It's a variable with a missing parameter. It won't work.
But then again I am a programmer. It's easier to grasp it when you know how to program it.

The glitches were common to several Forums but not frequent. Now it has only happened infrequently--one yesterday when the server spiked and a few days ago with no spike (both LEXX's). Now a spike doesn't guarantee a glitch--not at all. It just makes the site run slow. Since Anon only posted once, posts didn't vanish. Guess it was just LEXX getting multiple notifications. That has never happened to me or anyone else that I know of. Weird. But I have gotten those with Facebook.
