I'm in an odd place with this, for example can out geek geeks, can out tough guy the so called "Alpha Males".So I don't really fit into either "status" category, which I've been told is unique. Can talk cooking with the Chefs and Management with the Managers and NFIS systems with the nerds. IP: Logged |

Status is different from alpha at least for me. There's this gay guy I know that earns a lot.. But he gay so what he gonna do with all his money right.. So he just invites guys over and throws parties.. He has a guy harem I suppose.. Don't know if he touches any.. My friend says no.. But basically the group is there to build up his status.. If ur beautiful enough you get to hang and u can't with any other gay guy according to my friend lol! Everything is mostly paid for booze, drugs, not sex coz I suppose being handsome gives u the capabilities to procure your own, trips.. Etc.. Anyways that's just one example.. I've noticed Saturn at the top of my chart gives me status in career, school, socially. It's low now in my h1 so it's been eating at me for quite a few years. IP: Logged |

THAT is very prevalent, in Asheville there is a sort of group of high earner gay folks who will do exactly what one discusses. I've been invited to such things but never took up the offer. Does anyone happen to know what a "skin party" is? Have no clue, invited to like 3 of them. IP: Logged |

Like did he **** off a writer or something! Probably an orgy. I got invited to join a secret gay sex club. I wanted to join just to see who was there haha but I don't swing that way. What is your definition of status? The standard definition is:sta·tus /ˈstātəs/ Noun The relative social, professional, or other standing of someone or something. High rank or social standing. Synonyms condition - state - position - situation - station IP: Logged |

Thanks, I suspect a really good indicator of status is the number of people who invite you to do things. That to me is "status", when people who are expert in whatever field invite you to be a part of that community, whether you know anything about it or not, that is "status". Or at the very least, one is interesting or arouses curiosity..if people want you around..one has status, and it is not really a function of $$$$. As for the skin party..kinda odd when someone you do not know is inviting you to something you have no idea what it is, and trying to play footsie with you. Uhm, yeah, 8th house Scorpio, darkness and weirdness just finds me.

I guess I am a little status conscious. Cap sun being honest here. Wherever I go, I want to fit in and not stand out. If I am at a black tie affair, I want to be dressed exactly right. Whatever it takes to blend in and look appropriate...that's what I want. IP: Logged |

Status.... (I do love straight forward competitions though that I can quickly and obviously show my skill or intellect in, to be honest like sports, games, etc.) But socially...ahhhh I do not want to compromise myself for the sake of fitting in, do not want to rebel for the sake of rebelling.... Aka.....I am screwed. Just kidding...IP: Logged |

But isn't status appealing to everyone? (Depends on the circle/ profession I suppose) but in general.. You can just work for that and everything will follow.. Logical? Messed up logic? Lol! IP: Logged |

Interesting, sometimes though, people do not know what one thinks, and that leads to mystery..which is highly seductive. IP: Logged |

That's true....as a scorpio moon conjunct pluto and scorpio venus...etc...I am all too aware of getting excited about those games so I guess I try very hard to keep it up front right now. If however....there is some sort of structure in place (everyone KNOWS it's a game)...then it can come out. (Not sure if that has anything to do with status though.) IP: Logged |

So is status how others perceive you or is it how you perceive yourself; or is it simply the actual reality; like well or ill can be called one's status/condition. If status is fame and standing out; I would want what I do to stand out, like when I get any of my writings published; but do not want personal fame, so might use a pen name and not my real name. If I were wealthy no one would know it by looking at me or my home. In fact I would still live modestly. No extravagances and showing off for me. I would anonymously help folks.IP: Logged |

I tend to not identify with what society perceives as status-worthy objectives or titles, or achievements, or possessions... I think that's how a lot of people really are... except for the proud, materialistic, or greedy... or in other words... the lemmings... T__T but, I have no heart for creatures who follow the leader, without question, without individuality... there's no fun or practicality in doing inconsequential things just to gain something that isn't even physically profitable to your spiritual/physical well-being or to that of humankind... .... Just can't see myself in that way. Despite being a Capricorn.... I trust what I like, and what I believe in... I do what I feel is right for me, in the moment, and plan only for my own ambitions... not for the recognition of others. I'm sensitive to what others say, and I like to analyze where trends are heading... and anticipating the next event... but I won't follow anything or one blindly, if I disagree with them, just for the sake of this or that of the above status items/objectives/requirements... I'm not a rebel either... I don't like to conform for invalid reasons, but also don't seek to obtain the same by doing the exact opposite to the same ends... as some do. "He who humbles himself wants to be exalted. He who despises himself nevertheless esteems himself as a self-despiser." Friedrich Nietzsche there's no difference to me in seeing someone bend their own will to others to achieve status, than those who do it for the sake of religious salvation... I believe this is in line with the above... (<3 Nietzsche) I'm simple... and to some extent self-centered... I have my own convictions and morals and simply refuse to compromise on them for the sake of anything or anyone... even if it gets me ostracized... I'll never be a pariah, so long as there are others who have and stick to their own convictions as well, to keep me company. lol Status to me is about that... compromising something to gain something from somewhere, or someone else... to each their own though. ^^; i just feel that most the time people spend trying to maintain some position that secures some form of status appeal - could be spent doing something more practical and enduring... no? I'm just not really so concerned about how I appear in another's eyes, nor do I care to judge or be judged by others on things of vanity and inconstant importance/value... How does having/gaining status benefit humanity??? that is a better question... imho ~ sorry for being long-winded again... always! lol (polonius!) IP: Logged |

B/c status, can be used for ethical purposes. I used to be a fan Nietszche, but to understand him one must understand his core: "The slave revolt in morals began in Babylon, the eagles eat the sheep, so they must be "bad" and we (the sheep) must be good" He basically gave intellectual weight to sociopaths behavior, which is why the Nazis used his line of thought extensively. For myself, when that comes up, it is something of a red flag, w/o balance to his views one can very very easily go into the darkness. No thanks. IP: Logged |
