Tell me about your fears, the things you’re afraid of and why I fear a world like the one in the movie Gattaca. I think it’s because of my childhood experience. That movie just triggers my weariness of rules/orders, fear of living in a dehumanized, desensitized world, fear of being restricted, fear of not being allowed to pursue my passion... I fear violent/painful deaths. I’m afraid of prolonged sufferings. I work as a nurse so I see that a lot. I’m afraid of insects, cockroaches in particular. The sight of one can send me running. I have 6 bottles of insect spray at home, 1 for each room. I’m afraid of the dark/nights. Many people find the nights peaceful and quiet. Not me. I think it’s because of my 12th house planets.

Interesting thread. I used to be afraid of being abandoned or lost. By my family or friends. I no longer thankfully fear abandonment because of being forced into said situations, over and over again until I became resilient and learned how to fend for myself. It was like my greatest fear coming true. And no one could save me but myself. Hard lesson to learn, but I was able to conquer that fear.I guess, honestly I don't have any fears anymore. But I'm still trying to understand my relationship with death. It's not so much a fear, as much as it is an attempt to understand more about life and death. IP: Logged |

Thanks everyone for answering I think my fears are rather irrational, a part of my brain tells me that those things don’t really affect me that much why should I be scared? But I just can’t help it lol. Looks like there is quite a few people who share my (intense) dislike for insects. The comments on centipedes remind me that a few months ago I decided to watch the movie “The human centipede” out of curiosity. Worst decision ever. I couldn’t even finish it. NativelyJoan I’m glad to hear that you’ve conquered your fears <3 Aquaguy91: lol snakes aren’t so scary once they’re cooked to perfection keke.

Being abandoned and unloved. When i was a very young child, there was his one time where my mom and siblings were at my grandparents and my dad left me all alone in the house. I got scared of the dark. Nobody was home even at 3am.. I cried my lungs out at the house door for someone to come. Anyone. Neighbours heard and came climbing our house gates. One really cute neighbour pet me to sleep. Lol. I always have impression that he is cute cos I really just needed someone to be there. Oh, I am afraid of dying slowly. Death is best when it is quick and instant. Hmmm.. Saturn in 12th house? Venus exact square saturn? IP: Logged |

I am now living with too many things I feared in my childhood. Disability, poverty, bed ridden, extreme pain, blindness episodes, deformity, disease........Christians because the only people who have hurt me, abused me, emotionally and physically, including rape and bloody whippings, and made my childhood a nightmare were Christians. Still creepy to me because the rabid ones make death threats and vandalize property. People praying. They know not what they do and often make things worse. "shudder" Angels. "shudder" deceivers of humankind. IP: Logged |

Failure, especially when it means letting people I care about down. Some project I love getting messed up is a close second. Dying before I get my life back together and make something of it. Having to talk to people I don't know but they're intimidating and such powerhouses. Bit shy. And I hate snakes. Of course then you get people talking about how they've had this particular breed around their neck on holiday and *shudder*. IP: Logged |

I don't know how relevant this is to an astrology forum. I fear God. I fear not living up to standards set forth by God. I fear letting my loved ones down. I fear not living up to my own standards. I fear an eternity of damnation. IP: Logged |

^ YTA, Sweet Peas is a subforum, the description (tags) for the subjects allowed here state... ~"in this Forum we discuss the dark times that engulf us all from time to time, including understanding the differences between men and women, depression and other psychological disorders, suicide, the loss of a child, emotional/physical/sexual abuse, bullying, and anything else of a mature nature," Not all of this board is dedicated entirely to astrology. (The top of the front page (index?) are where those topics are covered.) On Topic: (besides the weird ones that I've shared before... centipedes and my horrible chaetophobia) Losing a loved one, any loved one... not them dying... just not having them around anymore... outliving a child/seeing a child die... that's a hard one for even my desensitized mind. Disaster at a Nuclear facility... that's always been a big fear, having grown up just outside of 3 mile... oh yes, that one exists for me even where I am now... these power plants are way too close to major populations. Ugh, I wish we'd use alternatives and create/adopt new ways to harvest electricity/power. weird bug fear #2... (I've only recently begun to fear these) bed bugs. I think I'd lose my marbles if we had these infest our home. I'd rather the centipedes... >.<; IP: Logged |

LMAO - I'd totally hug Kayako! But, yeah, no... I'm not cleaning her bath drains for her. Lexx - I'd be alright with the pets, it's only free/loose human hair that drives me nutty. It's been with me since my early teens, it began around the time my stepmother began to shed her thin hair all over my dad's place. You'd find it everywhere, on the walls, the pillows, toothbrushes, your food... somehow it triggered a phobic(?) response. After that seeing clumps of hair, sometimes even strands would make me anxious, for lack of a better word. And, after that time still... I began to exhibit trichotillomania. I've had two bald patches at different times due to this on my crown. My mother had to stop me the first time, deter me... the second time it got really bad was after my son's birth and all the stress of immigrating, and my husband had to deter me from pulling it (my own hair) out. Now, even more recently, only back in February... it came back again but this time I had pulled (by finger), over half of my right eyebrow out. It's a very strange addiction (mania) coupled with the phobia. Either way, it comes down to loose hairs... even my fear of centipedes is due to their "hairy" appearance. As long as those around me are concerned/vigilant and catch me before it gets really bad, I won't be walking around with a bald and sore scalp, so the trichotillomania is controllable, but the chaetophobia both triggers that manic habit and unnerves me. I have had a number of hair related nightmares... ugh. One day, I'm going to get me to a hypnotist and see if they can do their juju magic and make me less nauseous with hairy messes. >.<; IP: Logged |

Wow that is fascinating! Yeah, whilst not a fear, I hate hair all over the place; so I keep mine braided up very tightly usually. I get bouts of Alopecia and my head hair and or body hair falls out; so my pulling mine out is because I'd rather catch it before it falls on its own. The latest episode is still plaguing me and the Chicken Pox mixed with bad Psoriasis and Eczema flare ups has again left me with bald patches in my 4 feet long hair. It looks weird. I hope you can find the trigger for your phobias.{{{hugs }}}PS. Long finger nails is one of my phobias. I have known too many women who I know do not always wash their hands before preparing food. Like after they use the bathroom during their periods; I mean serious ewwwwww; no way are those nails clean enough to toss salad or handle any food with; whether they wash hands or not. I rarely eat where I know long finger nailed naked handed people have touched the food. IP: Logged |
