Ah, MTV, where the reality shows are scripted and blatantly staged (like subtle wardrobe & cosmetic changes that seem extremely unlikely without a crew, makeup artist, and director there to make it happen). Still, no matter how low it sinks (and MTV can sink pretty low in the gutter), I doubt they can make women look more shallow & depraved than Cosmopolitan already does (and it's not like they make guys look any better, at least not the few I've seen and heard about).

Hmm, I should ask someone to keep up with it for me and tell me how many cat fights there are without blood (one "reality show" on I think the Oxygen channel had women fighting almost like wrestling stars over guys and just as bloodless no matter what they beat each other with, and I read an article written by a former guest of the Jerry Springer show where the "bouncers" were whispering suggestions as they held or blocked those "violent" and basically directing the fake fights, and of course the scandalous secrets they revealed publicly were also just as fake). Though I suppose if they just sit around and talk (but what would be the fun of that?) then it'll just be a bunch of awkward talking of losing virginity to genitalia as if that's all that mattered, and of course the lines will be mostly written for them by someone else and memorized in advance, at least if they want to keep milking their 15 minutes of fame for all its worth.

But again, it can't be worse than Cosmopolitan which is already somewhat like that and throw in idiotic quizzes, articles on how to play head games with men (oh, and the first issue of Teen Cosmo even had an article blatantly instructing presumably teen readers on how to manipulate parents to buy the clothes advertised in their magazine for them!), and letters from readers bragging about breaking up relationships so she could hook up with a hottie (like starting rumors that a guy she wanted was cheating to make his girlfriend suspicious and then leaving panties around for her to find at like his beach house and proud of herself when they broke up and she could go "comfort" him).

I love MTV! Trash tele! Sloppy and mindless and fun. My sister watches it more than I do (since I rarely watch the tele any ways) but I still like to sit in on it whenever.

I guess sometimes nothing really satisfies like a twinkie.

Twinkies may be fun to eat and give a nice sugar high, just don't mistake them for real food.

TV in general is mindless even the science channel and been severely dumbed down for ratings.

Well, I'm a touch surprised that Randall of all people started this one.

No offense meant, Meredith Brooks summed it all up rather well.

On the other hand "What Guys Think" should be real simple and boring: alternate between Sex, Food and Toys. Couldn't be more straighforward.

It's called the Girl Code....it's not meant to tell you what *women* are really thinking. Or what young women or girls are thinking, for that matter either.

I saw the commercials for it because I started watching The World of Jenks when nothing else was on and was surprised to find it is actually an okay show. Chad (the autistic kid) is mainly why I watch it.

You can tell from the commercials and previews that it's all scripted, not to mention:

quote:
ABOUT GIRL CODE
MTV's new series "Girl Code" is a strong and smart female driven comedy series bringing millennial viewers a new, hilarious how-to manual full of over the top tips to push the envelope and open the dialogue about the wonders and woes of womanhood. In the same style of irreverent commentary that fans have come to love on MTV2's top rated series"Guy Code," *****the new MTV series calls on female stand-up comics, actresses and musicians -- and even a few guys -- to weigh in on the sisterhood that all girls share.****

You can tell they are all reading from cue cards and what they are saying made me groan and even slightly sick to my stomach. It's trash.

I hope teen boys (and girls, for that matter) don't take this seriously and swallow it whole.

Men who are close to fifty years old also should not be taking this seriously and I'm surprised one would even tune in. Actually, wait, no...I'm not surprised.

Sneak Peeks can be seen here:
http://www.mtv.com/shows/girl_code/series.jhtml

Doesnt get much more ridiculous than that.

btw, they are still playing that "Daddy's Money Sneakers" for girls commercial that parents were in an uproar about recently.

Sounds pretty interesting to me. Like those reality clip shows on TruTV where they show real camera footage (like dumb criminals) and then have comedians making funny comments. I always reserve judgment on a show till I at least watch it once. The fact that so many chicks are offended by the premise of this show makes me want to watch it more. It can't be any worse than The Man Show or Manswers (both of which were reasonably humorous in a subtle quasi-chauvanistic fashion that any male Cappy would appreciate the nuances of). Hey, I make no excuses for being a man. That's one of the problems with society nowadays--men are afraid to be men.

Beavis and Butthead rocks! Did you see the new season last year? They brought it back, and it was pretty awesome, because it has all of the characters in the original, and even with their commentary on modern music videos. The same characters but in 2012 (cell phones, etc.).

I don't watch much MTV either, but I did manage to catch a few select seasons of Real World. The latest one didn't interest me, so I'm not watching. But the one in New Orleans was epic. And Cancun was hilarious.

Umm....not at all AG. No Sugar Daddy has ever bought me any of my shoes or anything else. I didnt even let my significant others buy me much. I pay for what I want myself.

Not to mention I would not be caught dead in those style of heeled sneaker shoes. LOL

I was going to say you had too much smarts and were too cool to tune into something like Girl Code, as Randall suggested you do.....but now, after that comment, I"m not so sure.

I'm sure there are some women out there who will/do. You just havent found one yet....for some strange reason.

Funny how you brush off the suggestion you watch the show from another .... male too.

Kind of insulting imo.
