I don't think a hymen can come out like this. A period is a sloughing off of the lining of the uterus, if I remember my biology, so tissue could come out. That is what I remember from biology, anyway.

Yes, you're right, but it shouldn't come out in such big pieces...In any pieces actually. Have you experienced it?

Sounds like you have some irregularity in your menstrual cycle especially if you only got it for the first time in 3 months, it is definitely irregular if you are not taking birth control. You should see a doctor.

I don't think the hymen can "come out". It is a break in membrane. I don't think it comes out in a way someone could see it. if you are stressed, your period can be irregular.

In my opinion( and I am a layman) tissue from the lining of the uterus can come out and that is what I have had but that is my just my opinion and experience.

I've already seen a doctor. Irregular periods are typical for me when I don't take tabs.

Thank you and you Ami for your interest. Next time I'll ask my doctor what that was.

You haven't had a period in three months which means the lining of your uterus was probably that much thicker. I would only worry if you had a fever or in severe pain; otherwise, it's nothing to be concerned about. It's a natural process and happens to all of us

Hmmm. The problem is it should have been THICKER than what I saw.

I'm so cappy -

From a Google search tha turned up stories similar to yours:

"The doctor told me that because I tested negative for pregnancy the week before (I was 2 weeks late) and because I did not experience heavy bleeding that the most likely culprit is that my whole lining instead of dissolving and falling off just decided to drop off. From what I have read about incidents like mine, it looks like that any delays in having your period causes a large build up of the lining or thickening or whatever, but what happens is that there is more to shed and this results in more clots and tissue chunks. The doctor says that it is rare that the whole lining does that but that it does happen."

Not included in my c/p (sorry): She'd had a thin tissue come out as well as menstrual blood.
