My apologies if we already have this topic here. I generally tell people that I fear nothing. And while I do try to live a fearless life for the most part, I do have one fear I cannot seem to conquer. I fear that point in my future when my mom will no longer be here. Someday she will be gone. She instilled within me the values and virtues that are the foundation of who I am. She taught me about the hardest lesson I have ever had to learn--forgiveness. She always led by example, not by empty words. I could never be the person that she is. One day she will no longer be in my life. And I fear that day. IP: Logged |

I don't fear anything. Whatever happens, happens. I do however resent idiocy and incompetence, wherever it is. And it is everywhere. IP: Logged |

I fear being surrounded by the common and mundane, it's sort of a living death of the simplest of pleasures and no self improvement.Simple pleasures that others tell them are even pleasures at all. "That is just the way it is" Double "blech"..to me it's a horrible vista to contemplate. IP: Logged |

Coincidentally, my father died on the day after my birthday. I don't live in fear, but of course there are times when I fear losing my children, I fear war and natural catastrophe. I'm open to all possibilities of unthinkable violence and unbearable grief. But on the other hand, I know it's all temporary and believe something better exists on the Other Side. Faith It is the "other side" that quells the fears. There is another knowflake who lost her Mom on her birthday as well. A loss that puts all fears into perspective. ------------------ Christian, Jew, Muslim, Shaman, Zoroastrian, stone, ground, mountain, river, each has a secret way of being with the Mystery, unique and not to be judged. I fear losing my parents, not being able to take care of myself, losing my mind (when you feel like you're losing it, and someone is trying to push that - and other people are pushing, too - it's awful).I don't fear death for myself, but I do fear the process. I need time to myself, but fear being completely alone. I fear loss thanks to others being idiots, and not being able to take care of those I love. Or being left as the only one to take care of them. Being misunderstood is another. IP: Logged |
