Who do you view as a postive role model in your life? And who do you think is quite the opposite? I have several role models whom I admire and respect, but I have to say just about the worst is Miley Cyrus.IP: Logged |

Is it terrible if I say that I have no role models in my life?I guess I tend to see people on a horizontal level - as in, equals, and not more elevated, for example. Oh I can definitely admire some people, yes. And vice versa - some people I think are quite difficult to admire - Miley is a good example. But I'm not sure if I would consider them 'role models', they're more like.. inspiring in some way. Which doesn't necessarily mean I'd like to be like them, by the way. IP: Logged |

I have found someone who embodies all I want to be. He has passed on but I have his CDs--Kenneth Hagin. He had an NDE as a young child and came back to be a pastor. It is what he always wanted to do which is interesting because I think each person was designed for a particular line of work and you will know it if you follow your passions. People who have NDEs are different. What I like about him is that he is very real. There is no fakeness about him but he is very strong, too. You can tell that he is warm and gracious but has strong boundaries. I love that he has learned lessons and become humble and almost childlike with that childlike innocence which is so endearing. When the Bible says that people should embody love, Kenneth does but it is not that sweet, syrupy sickening kind of love. It feels real and warm. I just ordered 4 more of his CDs. ------------------ Passion, Lust, Desire. Check out my journal http://www.mychristianpsychic.com/

Dave Matthews, Eddie Vedder, Neil Young, Daniel Day-Lewis, Javier Bardem, Ryan Gosling, Paul Thomas Anderson. Oddly enough, all of their sun signs are either earth or water. Admire them all in what they do, and more importantly, how they conduct themselves. IP: Logged |

The opposite? I suppose anyone who is fake, lacks actual talent, or anyone who sells themselves entirely only on how they look. Anyone that doesn't put themselves into what they do. IP: Logged |

Yes yes yes! Someone who understand I agree with everything you said. I look at every single person as a person. I don't judge color, skin, hair or anything like that at all. I wish more people thought like that. Thank you so much for putting it out there like that you worded it perfectly IP: Logged |

It seems my role models are always changing the more I learn about life. I'm just learning about new possibilities.@Brendan, your list includes a few of my celebrity crushes. My sun's at 15 Cap, moon is 18 Pisces. Do we have a double whammy, because it kinda seems like it so far. IP: Logged |

Hey Faith, that's funny, maybe similar tastes. My Moon is 26 Cap, Neptune is 5 Cap, Sun is 15 Pisces, Venus is 26 Pisces. IP: Logged |

And I agree about role models changing throughout life, which is a good thing since it means you're changing. IP: Logged |

Come to think of it...I don't admire too many famous people (as potential role models) because I don't WANT to become famous. I admire some semi-famous authors and doctors, but I don't expect anyone here to know these people. (Unless you all read Amadea Morningstar's books? Maybe? ) However, I admit to wanting to be more like Kate Middleton...her sun's near mine, we have a Mercury conjunction, and we're both water moons. And thin with long brown hair. 'Love your style, Kate! Also, I love Alicia Silverstone (Pisces moon vegan, total sweetheart) and Kristen Bell. IP: Logged |

Not to mention the married man who stood there and even posed when she shook her behind on him, but noooo, no one can think two thoughts at once. IP: Logged |

I never liked these disney celebs when I was a teen, I couldn't relate to them unlike my peers. I was too raw to relate to disney and thought it was unrealistic. Ironically I find their strong desire to be treated like an adult to leave a bad distaste in my mouth.. I don't see a problem being youthful and innocent, they're basically telling other youths to grow up fast, but why? Besides mature adults have respect for themselves and others.. I don't like celebrities of this generation, there's no discretion or true glamor. I certainly don't like reading their pointless attention grabbing tweets. I much prefer celebs like Bette Davis, everyone knew she was crazy and out there but she didn't make a spectacle of herself. IP: Logged |

I think entertainers should be entertaining and that means not always being a good role model. Course I feel different about celebrities who are advocates or otherwise strongly involved in political, social, and religious issues, because then they're representing an organization, and in the case of being elected they represent their constituents (and if you have any real power then it's important to show you're trustworthy with it by showing discretion and good character). This would include entertainers as advocates, at least in regard to their message (but not necessarily in other ways unrelated to their message). IP: Logged |

Nah, Cyrus, one should keep in mind, was a "teen" star 5-6 yrs ago. Her market has aged, should see continue to be bubble gum, or show she is "just like you"? As for "famous" people as paradigms..rarely..at least no one since the mid 80's. Autodidacs, people with Character, the Creative, these are my paradigms IP: Logged |

Btw, a South Park ep I loved was on how Disney made many wear purity rings. Short & sweet getting those they could to wear purity rings made it ok to sell product to tween girls with parental approval (approval that wouldn't exist as much without the rings). It was brilliant (and could've gone further in exploring that concept and the hypocrisy of many moms upset that 17-year-old Miley was "selling sex" by wearing a revealing shirt but then publicly lusting over a shirtless 17-year-old Lautner who plays Jacob in Twilight).
