You parents out there, have you ever worried yourself with stress over your kids? Ok I'm worried not because my kid's in trouble or anything like that. I admit that it's college application time and I'm stressed. IP: Logged |

Names don't matter. They're all like crap shoots. Like Hoping to win the lottery when buying the ticket. The ACTs are on 9/21. The SAT Basics and 3 Advanced are on 10/5. Early Actions are due 11/1. By Christmas, Santa would have opined whether you're naughty or nice. IP: Logged |

I feel you YTA...trying to stay on top of all the deadlines, the test scores, trying to explain reasons why this school is better for that, college campus visits, application fees....ugh! So exhausting and tiresome not to mention stressful. I get a two year reprieve then I have two back to back not mention figuring out my education.IP: Logged |

OMG, I'm dying XDD!!!My kid's only 4, will be 5 soon. I used to cry myself to sleep at night when I first became a single parent, thinking I will not be enough for her. Then turn numb when she's visiting her dad. Never wanted to be a single parent, but there's not much I can do about this due to not wanting to sacrifice my kid's mental and emotional health for my own personal laziness. Idk if I made sense. Different cultures have different ways of dealing with the issue.
You can't prove much to kids unless you have examplary and demonstrative behavior. It's like having two chain puffers telling their kids not to smoke. In Asian culture, if you don't succeed, we'll just have to kill you. Then we just go have more kids, and then tell the new kids what idiots the old kids were. Frenemies! I do tend to agree, that sort of social circle and culture of performance, like toughness, just doesn't "happen" it is the product of socialization. No one wants to be the dumbest person at the table, no one wants to be the one who finishes last, or loses, or is avoided by those one admires. If performance is the key to avoiding such a fate then performance it shall be. I'd go so far as to suggest that approach even leads to things like who sets the table with the best aesthetic.
