This kind of look, you know.. lots of makeup, really noticeable fashion-wise, arched eyebrows, ect ect

Im more of a down-to-earth looking girl who doesnt look nearly as glamorous as these types of girls but im still decently attractive
i notice younger men (24 and down) tend to give me more flake for not looking like that than older males

why is that?

I haven't observed it, at least not in general. Maybe it's the crowd you move in? Perhaps they associate makeup with "fast girls" and aren't interested in any other kind or they see it as "being feminine" and "don't want a dyke/feminist." Just possibilities.

Those are just guesses off the top of my head. While I no longer pay any particular attention to males under 25 I do have a 16-year-old in my life and she attracts boys (her own age) just fine with her "less is more" makeup philosophy. Come to think of it I don't much care for how many older men (some much older than me) like to stare at her...

IIRC, you're about 15-16 yourself and if you're hooking up with adults then I can understand why some college guy about 22 would prefer an underage girl to look older (such as putting on a lot of makeup and trying to look sophisticated). If too many realized he was buying things for and being too affectionate with someone obviously an underage teen then there's a lot more chance someone will intervene with less chance of his lying about "not knowing her age" working (at least that would be a reasonable fear of his). Much older guys wouldn't have to fear that as much as long as he doesn't get too obvious about your relationship in public.

Idk, I don't understand the over-made look, though I verbally scorched my youngest two sisters when their eyebrows looked like they could cut a person lol.

I've always attracted nerdy types of guys when I was younger because they liked the mental stimulation and my look was very understated. I figured the guys that went over the moon about those types of girls would not really want to be with someone like me because I don't always look like a doll.

Maybe it is the crowd you're stuck around that likes this. I'm sure that once they got to know you, they would probably be more inclined towards you .

I'm a younger Man, I fit under Pixie's under 25 Invisible clause. I prefer Women with little and simple makeup. Not someone who photo-shops their face.

Different people prefer different things. Make up helps younger girls appear older, and it isn't necessarily something that women do for Men. Some may do it for themselves, or other Women.

One thing I noticed is that changing my look never stopped male attention it only changed which types of men were interested in me.

I assume that would still be true today.

@KarkaQueen sometimes thats the case, it varies with what the guy likes though. Some men like a more natural look to a woman. Personally the only time I ever get any attention is when I am made up, heels, dress, my hair down. And its usually the kind that makes me feel vulnerable, like they might try to grab my purse. Other then that I am just a jeans an t-shirt girl that no one blinks an eye for lol!

I prefer they don't or lightly.

I'm sure there are exceptions but in MY personal experience the ones who get all decked out only care about themselves too. Super annoying

I like a woman in a burka though. I don't know why. LOL

Thanks to my comrades but I will speak for myself. I do care, and I care intently.

I like women who take care of themselves, as much as they do care about me taking care of myself.

Usually attracted men with a natural preference, an saw it as a good thing since I knew they liked me for me, an not some frills. Do workout an keep myself healthy though, thats always important to me.

My SO is also modest an doesnt like a heavily made up woman.

Well yeah. I don't like laziness on their appearance but I just think a bunch of makeup and flashy jewelry are unnecessary.

But a little effort into clothes, hair, etc. Light makeup more skin tone, highlight kind of look.

No duck faces either. LOL

My question would be more along the lines of it is makeup, or the look makeup creates?

Younger guys tend to go for "she's hawt!" which is the point of excessive makeup afaik.

Highlights strengths and minimizes flaws.

Totally agree! It really depends on the guy- obviously people's tastes are going to vary. I think attention really comes down to not only a man's preference, but the image you project. Believe me there are some days I look like absolute crap but could care less and I got attention. Other days I could be made up to the 9's but project negativity and thus am avoided. The kind of attention you want though is important- totally get the 'vulnerability' you are talking about!

I've had the opposite experience.
I've had younger guys blatantly attack me about wearing make-up.
But my Venus is opposite all of their Plutos.. so that would explain it!

I think I make them feel out of control.. so they're not sure how else to react to me - sometimes.

I've never had any issues regarding make up with older men. They seem more neutral on the issue.

But I've had younger guys make all sorts of dumb assumptions like:

- Do you wear it to attract men?
- Do you think it makes you more sexual?
- Are you unhappy with your natural look?
- Are you one of those high-maintanence girls who spend their lives in the mirror?
- Does the fact that you are attractive and wear make-up mean I have to pay for everything we ever do together?

etc etc....

In any event - make-up is a very political issue to me.
I agree with lipstick feminism theories on the matter, although I'm egalitarian and don't necessarily identify with being a feminist...

quote:
Lipstick feminism proposes that a woman is empowered — psychologically, socially, politically – by the wearing of cosmetic make up, sexually suggestive clothes, and the practice of a sexual allure that appeals to men and to women. The rhetoric of 'choice' and empowerment is used to validate such overt sexual practices,[5] because they no longer represent coerced acquiescence to societally established gender roles, such as “the good girl”, “the decent woman”, “the abnegated mother”, “the virtuous sister”

quote:
Lipstick feminism proposes that the practice of sexual allure is a form of social power in the interpersonal relations between a man and a woman, which may occur in the realms of cultural, social, and gender equality.

(From wiki ^)

Because the issue is so political to me... if a man had a problem with my wearing make-up - I would probably drop him on that basis alone.

I really love this gif!
She seems hypnotized by her own beauty

Anyways I love art and colors and makeup is an extension of that.
Moon conjunct Venus.
I love things that are feminine
Pastel colors, lace, sequin..

I have my grandmothers floral lace bed sheets and I ******* love it.

Studies being done in neuroaesthetics are finding that our neurological circuitry not only responds to beauty, but to activates passageways that stay dormant in our mind without the visual trigger of beauty. There have also been tremendous amounts of studies by psychologist describing the effects of beauty and the loss of self that occurs only when we are immersed in the visual experience.

http://praxispdx.tumblr.com/post/9284679735/in-defense-of-beauty-the-guise-and-the-intangible

Aesthetically pleasing images have such an interesting and positive/uplifting impact on the brain.. so of course we're all driven by that.
Beauty/Youth/Health... as opposed to Ugliness/Old-age/Illness.
We're all scared of death and illness... (Every single living thing.. has this deeply engrained in their psyche... completely regardless of what they may or may not say on a conscious level... )
All animals want to survive and enjoy their lives!

So this whole thing goes waaay deeper than vanity.. and I haven't even gone into the sexual implications.

I wonder why the connection between life-sex-death (8th house/Scorpio stuff) and - make-up - is so clear and obvious to me.. It might be my Venus/Pluto opposition.

I guess many might just think of make-up as "make-up".. the way they would look at coloured crayons... but there's so much to it. It's all too complicated.. I wish it wasn't.. because every time the topic comes up I feel like I could write three separate essays on the matter.

Kerosene - I do agree with you that it is an art and I really appreciate it as an art!

This is true.
I have noticeable dark circles under my eyes from the lack of sleep and tinted moisturizer or bb cream which helps me look alive and in turn more attractive lmfao.

My looks are my greatest asset in life.
I captalize on them as much as possible.
Venus conjunct asc
Venus in the first is ruled by mars
the planet of survival, I don't have brute strength or the intimidation factor.
I've gotten way with so many things looking innocent and wide eyed.
My feminine features and body type works to my advantage.
peoples natural instinct is to protect me
I could probably get away with murder.

but but there is no way I could of started the fight :3
... muahahhahaa
