A young kid in a recently locked thread called another member and I "middle aged". lol I think he meant it as an insult, or comment he thought would make us angry? It didnt, But it made me wonder if younger men these days view the mid-30's as middle-aged. It it just another dumb comment from a frustrated young male or has that group become so brainwashed and desensitized, that they think throwing out comments like that are legitimate insults or really believe someone is middle aged (male or female) in your 30's?

This is the same type of guy who will whine-ily ask why females only go for 'bad boy' types and pretend to be confounded and hurt by it. It's the same guy who will throw out a vauge apology to a group of women knowing that there will always be a handful of them that will rush to his side and coo and melt & exclaim how 'sensitive' is this guy!!

These are the most abusive, manipulative ones that can't for one second deal with a real woman who will stand up and point out how she can see through his bs. It flusters the crap out of them and they show their nasty angry side very quickly (as demonstrated in the other thread).

I know the younger girls have to go through this learning curve first in their learning process, but it never ceases to amaze how will women will so quickly take a douche-bag under their wing.

I think he was making a reference that he was trying to be mature by apologizing and others who were older than him (and telling him over and over that he's young) were being petty and immature about it. Note, that's my guess of his perspective, not my validation of it.

Furthermore, men typically don't use age as an insult because they don't care about it the way women do. For Aquaguy to use that as an insult (at least before today) he'd have to understand the feminine perspective better.

Beyond that age is pretty subjective...when you're in your early 20s someone in their 30s is another different world and can be seen as "middle age" or close enough. Meanwhile I've heard people in their 50s refer to someone 30 as "young people."

Now how about we let it go?

PJ, you make some valid points, but i don't agree with them all or share your perspective on most of them.

Also, there is nothing to 'let go' of, it's a new set of topics now.

This isnt meant to be a mudslinging thread, to be clear. We can easily let this evolve into a discussion w/o attacks.

i watched a 'reality' matchmaking show last night and in this particular episode one of the guy reminded me of some of the discussions going on here. Mainly his comment about women over 30 (he was mid 30 himself). I'll look for it online and post it later. Maybe then this thread and correlations will make more sense. And the usual people trying to attack me will see that there was more to it then.

I was laughing about that. I honestly don't know if 35-37 is middle-aged or not. I do know that women from about 35 to 60 get very little honor and respect in modern American culture...generally these are like the invisible years.

It's funny because, to me, my older friends (mid 40's) are so beautiful. Their experience and wisdom and dignity makes it so. I value their input on things...

But with our beloved aquaguy around, we're supposed to hush. If an older woman says something to him, it's like, "Pfft...go knit something, you Has Been!!! Wrinkle face!!!"

Doesn't AMI ANNE have anything better to do than defend everything Precious has to say?

Doesn't Randall have anything better to do than run this forum and add commentary?

Like, the older you get, the less you should speak.

Well T, thanks for the laughs, I'm just going to expect that anytime you and I get rolling on a thread it will get shut down, so maybe this is "Bye! See ya next time!"

Yes, very immature to ask, "What exactly are you apologizing for?" Only petty, immature people want to know details like that.

I've wondered what would happen if I started my own "I'm Sorry" thread. If I didn't say anything except sorry, and everyone came on board for bear hugs and to tell me I did the right thing by apologizing, even though I never specified what I did wrong, who I did it to...nothing.

I wonder if anyone except T would find that odd?

Well now!

I think and suspect and semi believe the classic view of "middle age" is passe'.

Reason being, "middle age" USED to mean disconnected and stultified, ie, one knows what one knows with -0- chance of ever being exposed to new ideas.

What my Saggie "wherever I may roam" has found is a 18-34 generation who have been SOOO coddled by society that any whiff of wisdom appears to be a precious bit of "real life" information.

Basically, the most informed generation in America is also the most naive'
