It is easier for me to be insecure because then I feel I won't be criticized. It is a way of putting yourself down first, so others won't.It is a kind of safety mechanism against criticism which hurts a lot. This has been kind of dawning on me and I wanted your opinions! ------------------

Well my opinion is that people criticize and judge one another regardless of either one. Some criticism is great, we aren't and never will be perfect just because it's not possible. How will a person ever know how to be better at something if they aren't told how to make it better. For me being confident is a hell of a lot easier than being insecure. I knew at one point what it was like and don't ever want to be that low again in my life. People feed off of insecurity, it helps them feel better with themselves. It gives them better opportunities and openings. Insecurity is deep rooted in the person, it's all self inflicted. I won't go to deep and ramble on and on how I feel when we all have our own different opinions and beliefs on the matter. So for me being confident is a heck of a lot easier, it makes life in general easier  IP: Logged |

it's all self inflicted.Yes, very wise statement. I used to be confident and it is my dream to get it back. ------------------

Quite frankly, it is hard figuring out when to stand up strongly and when to walk away cuz both are needed. Jesus did both and He is our guide for life, to those of us who are Born Again Christians like Ian and I. Wisdom is the key, I suppose. ------------------

I fully agree with Barbiegirl19. Being insecure, I believe actually invites criticism and the like - having a large chunk of my life that way. Life got so much better being confident. (not arrogant) Also, confidence doesn't need to be about standing up to anything or anybody. Confidence can be silent as mine often is.
Example, I'm always confident about life in general. I am confident that whatever happens is just something that happens and I am stronger than circumstances. I don't let things upset me. (my bank account was hacked this week for example.) I just begin the process that I need to and know that things will be okay. A minor inconvenience. Maybe I have the wrong idea.... Anyway, I'm on my phone AND I don't feel like blabbing on and on.
