Gossip Girl?

Yeah it's really old...but I never use to watch it because the plot was literally my experience going to an elite private school.. It came out when I was maybe in the 9th-10th grade..

It never interested me because of this, although now almost graduating uni next year has sort of changed my perspective. The attractive actors and fashion from that time period is really interesting to me now... I thought this show was eye candy...
I have to admit Blake Lively's face bugs me... lol

But none of the characters are likable...
The only redeemable one is maybe Blair and dans friend but even they have major flaws.
Blair because I respect people who are unapologetic and ignore social niceties.
She's a bad bish...

So far this show glamorizes bulimia and blatant sexism.
I just feel so bad for Blair.
That her worth is her virginity and purity and my least favorite characters are the males on this show..
Nate is hypocrite...
Dan wants to tame and control Serena... and well he's Gossip Girl soooo
Chuck is well... that's his character but still It kinda shocks me the writers add sexiest qualities.
and isn't he a popular bad boy? He would an interesting character if he did not have mommy issues or lack of motherly love..
Honestly puritan men have the same opinion about women as he does... So it's really unnecessary to add that..
I think his mischievous ways are entertaining enough.

But its amazing how the writers avoid addressing other discrimination in that society like racism and just casually drop in Blairs homosexual father but just constantly objectify the females on this show..

As gold digging bad girls that need to be down to earth and wifed up.
I want to believe this is a satire but that fact they don't address other issues makes me think this is just for glamor and entertainment.

I'm so glad I did not expose myself to this growing up and maybe putting this lifestyle on a marble pedestal.

Rant over.

I tried looking around the internet for similar perspective but I never found any as such... I don't people take it so seriously but I just don't like what I'm watching...

Other than a couple of short clips on YT and skimming through a book I haven't been exposed to Gossip Girl (have heard more about it from others). That was still enough for me to get snarky when I heard adults watching their own trash complain about their kids watching the same trash only targeting a younger generation (ditto on like putting down Grand Theft Auto while loving shows like Dexter and the Sopranos). I also pointed out that at least some of the kids were reading Gossip Girl, just how often did they read?

Also, a guy once criticized me for liking something as unrealistic as Kim Possible (which is as much a satire on the spy/superhero genre, along with parodying some pop culture, as much as its own show, not to mention a cartoon) but I about exploded with laughter when he said he preferred realistic shows like CSI.

(ETA: Just to avoid anyone thinking I'm attacking them I'll point out I have my own guilty pleasures and of course I already mentioned I loved Disney's Kim Possible. I'm not trying to put anyone down.)

Kim possible?

What is wrong with that show?

But shows and games that addresses issues like discrimination as a real thing is different.
Like breaking bad that supposedly controversial.
For the most part shows the reality of that life style.

Violent games are an issue. It is shown to increase violence but it's apart of our society,,,

GG seems like glamorizes toxic things.

It's not like these character meant to project these qualities
It's just really bad writing...
Instead of just mentioning Blair's bulimia shouldn't they address that instead of her silly sex scandal that is NOT A BIG DEAL REALLY, who cares..

The writers are basically female fashion magazine dating columnists..

I can see why they broke up one couple for character development and to pair two other characters.
The way they went about it was annoying.
I ended up disliking the character even though the writers want me (viewer) to be like in love with him because he is so idealistic and romantic.
LOL no I just think he's a stupid hypocrite.

I like the concept and character archetypes.
but the writing-dialogue is just unintelligent.

Honestly adults are mature enough to watch all types of smut..

Honestly I can't believe young people were exposed to that..
I'm really glad I never watched that because I might of gotten taken in my the glamor and just feed all this toxic waste of stupidity.

Really old? Let's not exaggerate. Anyway, I never understood the popularity of this show. My friend was obsessed with it and he would often tell me about it (I should get a medal for patience), besides I came across some info online and I've seen one or two episodes. Conslusion: ewww, wtf?

I'm sooo happy! I mean, cappy.
