How people can argue so much about the smallest things.. I haven't been here too long, so I'm certainly not complaining or anything, I just laugh sometimes whenever I see a thread has been locked with more than 4 replies. 99.9% of the time it's because an argument broke out. I have no idea how people can get so butthurt over the smallest things and take things so personally. There was only ever one person here that I felt came off a little strong and flat out condescending, so I just ignored him and when he would speak to me, I'd either let it go or respond calmly because it's not worth it. Not intending to rant, just expressing some sources of humor and confusion for me lol. IP: Logged |

I don't think I was butthurt...? Was I? Maybe at the end if you want to say but I'm actually matter of fact. Example: I worked in retail years ago. This guy called asking if we had something. With almost 200,000 items in the store it took me a minute to think. He started making fun of me like I'm stupid. Very calmly I told him that he won't be helped if he was going to treat me that way. He did it again and I hung up. Oh well. It happens. Kinda funny really. IP: Logged |

I wasn't even talking about you lol! I don't read through the arguments if they're more than two pages long. I just saw a locked thread, went to the last page, and saw a name unfamiliar to me write a long post so I was like alright forget this lol. I've only ever seen you in one or two heated discussions but you never get ridiculous about it. IP: Logged |

Not connected with the LL FB stuff so whatever friendships/acquaintances I have on LL aren't from there. I can't answer your question because obviously I haven't been there either. I just heard there was drama recently but it has been resolved. IP: Logged |

Well... I think it is different for some people and situations. The most recent. I would call that almost like a battle of religion really. It was something of strong beliefs you know? Like evolution vs. creation TYPE of thing. Those are ALWAYS heated. *shudders* Sometimes it's just pride. You're out in the open, everyone sees. You want that last word and suddenly apologizing seems like the weak thing to do. Although I did a few weeks ago and was attacked for it. But yes, apologies are suddenly like take 2nd place. I mean, I need to keep this in mind as much as the worst of us. Feeling obligated to respond seems to be one. Man that's a tough one too!! I'm notorious for that and you know, I don't know what it is. There actually have been many times though that I just don't go into a thread or quit going into it. Or read it and leave. People only see me responding, but when you ignore something then no one knows. Which makes me think.... If in person, we have facial expressions and body language. Here we don't. So either you do without or you try to put those things into words. I'm sorry, but as a person with high intuitive ability in real life I can't describe to you the things that I pick up from others. If I tried it would cause massive confusion. Which is why these smilies are used so frequently. It sets the mood. Unfortunately, sometimes they are used to give an impression of calm when really someone is ready to blast someone in the face with an Aquanet Fireball. (Ohh yeah... Mischievous people know what I'm talking about. ) IDK.. there's probably SOOO many things. I just hit a few and maybe not that well. IP: Logged |

And just for the record, while I do sometimes take to ignoring people or dropping something without further comment, it's not always the case. Like in a recent locked thread T kept calling me to respond. But thing was after my last question to her I went to bed figuring to take it up the next day. She did answer really fast (4 minutes) so it wasn't unreasonable to think I may have seen and was thus ignoring when no reply came. But fact was I turned my computer off before she replied in those 4 minutes and didn't see it until the next day when all threads related to it were locked. Speaking of how fast some people respond I really wish Randall would include a draft option. It would prevent at least some drama and misunderstanding, at least from me who get a lot of use out of previewing. Especially as so many people on LL read and even respond to my posts so fast that sometimes LL feels more like a chatroom than a board (and get images of some members constantly hitting refresh, I guess on their phones while waiting in line or on the bus). It's gotten so ridiculous that one time when I changed one word as it might be misconstrued someone just had to comment saying they saw what it was before (while swearing she wasn't trying to stir up any drama, and for the record I don't believe her), and that was like within 5 minutes or less. Guys I'm not attacking anybody lol there's no need to defend yourselves. I certainly agree that sometimes, ignoring someone just doesn't cut it. Some people will keep attacking until they get a reaction out of you.I was just sharing some of my thoughts.. Not trying to start anything or make anyone feel victimized! IP: Logged |

Most message boards (or any place that allows for comments) will allow you to select a "draft" or "preview" which lets you see how your posts looks before you actually post it. If you're happy with it then you hit post and it posts for real, and if not then you can edit it. That's useful for tidying up an otherwise unreadable post (for example, I could see how the paragraphs will look before I post). And when I'm making a post I can easily forget how something might come off, or that I may be using slang and acronyms that are unknown to many. In the example I gave of changing a word I meant it as I meant it which wasn't bad but as my mind relaxed (as I was reading it rather than writing it) I thought of other ways it had been used and looked up the definition to see the insulting use being first definition given in the dictionary (and given that this is LL with so many hypervigilant members who tend to be paranoid at the best of times then I better change it stat), so I found a word that expressed the same thing without the negative connotation, and I think it was in the first minute of my having posted it (if I had a draft then I'd have changed it before I posted at all). In the rare moments I get heated just taking a minute can help me calm down, too, or to realize that it's simply a waste of time (but again, people sometimes reply in like 2 minutes, once I deleted my message in the same minute I posted it and someone quoted me in mere SECONDS that it existed, and had I used a Preview/Draft then it would not have existed at all). I used to use my office program but after some update it's no longer compatible. If I edit it there then it becomes a bunch of wild glyphs here on LL. Plus, it's just nice to see what it looks like as a reasonable length paragraph as I make a post is way too long or short when it actually posts.

Gotcha. I always think the better sentence in my mind a bit later, and will sometimes go back and change it.

I didn't "keep calling for you to respond." Compile those responses into one. The message I was getting across to you was -- if you have something you really want to say to me, then go over there and say it. Don't quote something from another thread, in another forum and try to play some passive aggressive game with me, which you have tried to do before with me. I was saying: Listen, if you know something that I don't, then call me out on it. In that thread. Rather than taking a quote from another thread, in another forum and twisting it here. BTW, for your info, that comment - reference to being 'grown-ups' had to do with a funny e-card i posted to teasel awhile back in a different thread. My response to you was mainly an invitation to lay anything you might really want to say out on the line and discuss like grown ups that we are. So you could quit following me around making snide comments and acting like you know something that I don't. If you have something to say to me, start a new thread in that forum. I'm not afraid of being open and honest here. I DO get annoyed with people like you who won't say something directly to my face though. Start a new shout out thread and rip me a new one if that's what will make you feel better. IP: Logged |

That's what I meant by "calling on me to respond." Not some "throwing down a gauntlet" or whatever you're translating it is. And the point was I didn't want you (or anyone else in similar circumstances) to think I was ignoring you (your posting over and over again made me think that was your assumption). That's not being mean or "passive aggressive" to you, that was me saying I wasn't ignoring you, circumstances just prevented me from responding. However, a mod there and here doesn't want that topic to keep being brought up (and btw, the FB drama is separate from LL, if it wasn't for you and Teasel I would've never heard of Tina May at all, because I don't go to FB). Btw, I was checking LL just before logging off (won't be back until sometime tomorrow) so try not to get this thread locked by repeatedly asking me to reply. IP: Logged |

It's seeming like it's boiling down to the same few people and that a lot of it stems from the LL FB group. I'd prefer it if people kept it real and stopped pretending that they were separate from one another [LL and FB LL]. It seems the powers that be, thrive on that and thread lockings though. I think things would be better if open and honest discussions were more encouraged. IP: Logged |

Same here except I am glad i found out about it. And I don't consider it separate, as it will always run off here it seems. Why can we not just deal with it all and stop pretending that the FB drama has nothing to do with this place. It's the same people, different drama, isn't it?? Same times, different place? I fail to understand what the major difference is. Oh, the difference is, if you are not connected, then you can't defend yourself. Perfect situation for some. bbiab. IP: Logged |
