Thank you! I keep forgetting to eliminate that letter "s" they have in some links. Also; whilst not my exact views; I like Stephen Fry and the topic is a bit of food for thought.IP: Logged |

Basically the prime difference is that Humanists can also be of any religion, Christian, Buddhism, and of course no religion, as in being an Atheist. An Atheist is not a Humanist unless they choose to be and can be anything from loving open minded caring individuals or sadly be bigots, homophobes and so forth. Humanism rejects such anti human rights thinking. Atheist's prime definition is simply the lack of belief in any deity/religion. quote: Outline of humanismThe following outline is provided as an overview of and topical guide to humanism: Humanism – group of philosophies and ethical perspectives which emphasize the value and agency of human beings, individually and collectively, and generally prefers individual thought and evidence (rationalism, empiricism), over established doctrine or faith (fideism). Two common forms of humanism are religious humanism and secular humanism.

Thank you for clearing that up for me, Lexx Earthy - I try to avoid comments for just about anything online. It harms any shred of 'like' I have for the human race. IP: Logged |
