Sometimes, there are things going on at LL that people won't notice, because people tend to view just the surface level of LL (and that's perfectly okay). Barb, you mentioned the "L" word recently. Leader. I would like to touch upon that for a bit.LL is an organization. Like any organization, there is a culture. I exert a lot of deliberate effort that many might not notice in creating LL's culture. Most here might not realize that we actually have a culture of Servant Leadership (though not overtly called by that name). I have been wanting to rewrite the registration rules to emphasize this, and I probably will at some point. Aside from the community aspects of LL, as a Leader here, it's my job to serve the followers, and whether you like me, love me, or are indifferent, I'm in charge (relatively speaking), so you are all followers by organizational definition by simply being here and contributing. I don't mean that in a boastful or otherwise negative way. Yes, I fall short at times, but I do try to serve the community. Understandably so, the concept of Leader as servant may seem like a foreign concept and a bit of an oxymoron. But ultimately, one of the goals of Servant Leadership is to grow new Leaders. Leaders can be both formal and informal. We have plenty of both at LL. All of that being said, I just want to say that Barb has truly grown into a Leader in every sense of the word, and it chokes me up inside when I see such strong and valiant leadership manifest. It honors me, and it honors the whole community when an individual steps so boldly into a leadership role here, especially during times when things are not smooth-sailing. In that vein, I would like to say a gentle thanks to her for her service (which will no doubt encourage others to step up in the future and help to grow them as Leaders) and to all of the Mods who so selflessly give of themselves to others and choose to serve. I truly believe that the key to happiness in life is finding a way to serve the world that is in some way deeply rewarding and personally enriching to the individual. And maybe, just maybe, LL can play a small role in that process. Happy Holidays, everyone. IP: Logged |

I don't know what to say. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I am truly grateful for this amazing opportunity. I am honored. You are an incredible person with a very kind heart. We all slip up, we're entitled to have those days. I don't think its fair for anyone to judge a person based on those days. Yes criticism is great, it helps us grow and creates a better world, however criticism and slander are two separate things. Bullying a person is not okay. I am at your aid. I will help in anyway I can. I promise to never let you or any of the other mods down. We have to remember that with every storm comes the sunshine. We'll pull through, we just have to stick together. Support one another. As you've said Randall, we are the glue that holds this place together, without us we'd have total anarchy. We all have to work together, mods and users. Happy Holidays. IP: Logged |

Welcome, Barb. You were very kind to me in another thread, and I was grateful, although I didn't get to respond, because I got distracted.I think that being a good mod, means being able to see both sides, and not just side with the boss. I didn't check back into that thread, because I'd defended my friend, and then myself, and people in "higher-up" positions here, also need to check their actions and motivations. I get sick of being blamed for having a natural reaction to someone else messing with me, and repeatedly hurting my feelings. I've been blasted more than once, publicly and privately, and had assumptions made about me. I get teary and happy, when people find common ground, own up to their own mistakes, and stop attacking each other. I've missed a lot of what happened around here, that had others upset, but maybe we can have more people seeing each other as human beings with very real feelings, instead of building ranks, and everyone feeling bad in some way. Thank you, Teasel. I don't wish to run this topic off course. You're talking to one who sees all sides, who puts herself in the shoes of others. I am a logical person, I pick logic over emotion, gotta love Saturn. Just because I didn't publicly address it doesn't mean that I've picked a side, there are no sides. It wasn't my place to pick any side, as it wasn't my "fight." Like you said I wish we'd treat each other like the humans we are, be mindful of each other's feelings, respect each other. It's a two way street. I'm sorry that you've had to go through that. I don't ever plan on stepping on anyone's toes or making anyone feel uncomfortable. I am just like everyone else here. I have faults and make mistakes. I am still learning and will grow more. So on that note I'd really like to let go of the drama, it's just not worth it. It all ends the same. Hope you have a nice holiday. I commented at you in the venting thread about your aunt. Keeping your family in my prayers and asking for strength. IP: Logged |

That was beautiful, Randall. That helps me to remember my purpose. One truly is blessed when one loves and serves. It is so easy to want things for oneself. The human nature does that but all the wants do not bring the happiness we seek. Giving away the gifts with which we are blessed does. I appreciate that reminder today and hope I can hold onto it in the future. I have never seen a Mod with so much grace in such a short time( like days) as Barbie ------------------ Want To Ask Any Question About Bible Prophecy? Go For it. I don't want to leave the other Mods out, so I need to clarify some things. All of the Mods here are Leaders. Every single one. Some are absent at times, but all of them are people in whom I entrust LL in their hands. Many Knowflakes are also Leaders (informal Leaders). The reason I took special note of Barb is due to the fact that after I made her Mod of Sweet Peas, she immediately faced attacks on all sides, but she handled it with grace and didn't let it break her. In fact, she handled things so well that I asked her to also take over Hearth And Home. I had been awake for several long hours, and I can't stay awake 24/7, and it was during a time of contention there. I knew she would act in my stead. Of course, I didn't give her a welcome thread there for obvious reasons, but I felt very confident that she would continue to do well, and she has. As a Servant Leader, I love seeing Leaders grown here, and I also love watching them flourish. IP: Logged |
