I'm interested in your opinions.....

Whether you have breastfed, bottle fed or just generally have an opinion. Do you think breastfeeding should be left for at home and disapprove of the act in public? Do you think it's a beautiful thing? Or outdated?

Let me hear!

I think you need to feed your baby where you are.... And please, men are sick to think about sex while seeing a mother feeding her baby... That's my thought...

I love to see mom feeding, but I'm not going to stare at her. My mind goes in peace, at least the baby won't cry

I laugh at people that are so freaked out to see a woman feeding a baby with her breast the way women have done it since the beginning of time. Especially considering after living in major metropolitan cities for most of my life I have only actually seen a woman breastfeed in public a handful of times and only saw a breast once. So I am convinced that most people that complain about it are doing so hypothetically or because of the one or two times they spotted it happen which is pretty ridiculous.

And before someone says "pump at home"... There are a lot of women pumping doesn't work for. I breastfed my son for 18 months (everywhere... Because my son is more important than someone's delicate feelings) and I was almost never able to pump more than 2oz at a time.

I never did it in public, but I don't care when others do.

Ugh.. The very fact there are people out there that derive sexuality from seeing a woman breastfeeding drives me crazy..

Then again, I am also someone who doesn't see immediate sexuality in full-blown nudity.

A woman breastfeeding her child is totally pure.. It's how things are made to be. To me, there is nothing wrong with a woman doing what nature has provided her to be able to do. It doesn't matter where it is.

But.. Sadly, not everyone thinks this way.. And it is those very people that seem to make things quite uncomfortable for the rest.

You can breastfeed in public and no one can see

You drape the blanket over your shoulder, a baby blanket.

I used to do it. If people have a problem with it, it is their problem lol

18 months! Good going! Did you wean or did the baby self wean? My wife had trouble with expressing too.

Was that because of the potential reaction you would've got. But as long as you feel comfortable.

Yeah, over here in the uk, there's a lot of instances where people become very vocal against breastfeeding in public, they're almost repulsed.

He self-weened which was nice because at that point I sort of wanted my body back but I didn't want to rush him either, you know?

He got a cold with a stuffy nose and that was that.

It's beautiful! Not only natural but the best option for baby! I don't get grossed or weirded out by it, I just appreciate those that have the decency to cover themselves. It's an intimate, close bond between the baby and the mother and I think it should remain that way. Covering yourself doesn't draw the unwanted attention like it would if you were hanging out. And when you know you have that attention it adds nervousness and stress which the baby feels which then makes everyone uncomfortable.

I think it's a beautiful thing, I breastfed both my kids until they were each 22 months old, I am a working mother so would express on my breaks so I could still maintain my flow and so my mother, who looked after them, could bottle feed them expressed milk while I was at work. I had no problem with feeding in public but I always did it in inconspicuously.

I feel very fortunate I was able to do this for my children and consequently they hardly ever get sick and it creates a wonderful bond. I got a bit of flak from some friends and my mother in law for still b/f them when they were nearly two years old but I didn't care. My little guy, now three and a half, still puts his hand down my top at any opportunity, even in public.

Recently, in my country, there was a huge public uproar regarding photos published in a woman's magazine of a well known sporting hero bottle feeding his baby. The pro breastfeeding groups were up in arms saying that the pictures weren't promoting 'breast is best' which sparked a huge debate and made television news and national newspapers. I have also read stories of mother's that have been asked to leave cafés because they are breastfeeding their baby. At the end of the day you just need to do whatever is right for your baby- whether it is breastfed or bottle fed in public; the mother should not be discriminated against- the baby is hungry or needs comforting and that's all that matters.
