I don't know where to post this so...

I just started working at a new job and although this is my second day working, I've been noticing this guy who works here a bit too often?

He's an older man (maybe in his 30's) and he seems to be a mechanic for the machines here. I smiled and said hi to him just being polite as I do everyone else I see by my station but ever since then, I notice that I see him EVERYWHERE and it's very frequent.

At first I just thought that he was passing by to do stuff around the area, but I quickly noticed from the first day I smiled at him, that he would pass by my station and look at me but no one else. I still smiled to be polite, but after these past two days it's starting to get really awkward and just.. weird.

Not only that but I take a bus into work from the housing here AND HE WAS SITTING AT THE BUS STOP despite the bus being there. I just quickly walked past him avoiding contact and got on the bus. And, to top things off I went to take a break today and went to one of the employee lounges, and he walked into the door soon after I got there...

He doesn't give off a creepy vibe I guess but I just feel like it's just really awkward seeing him all the time and knowing that he's probably expecting me to smile every time he walks by? Plus the fact that he was at my bus stop and showed up in the same place during my break just odds me out.

Again, I don't know where to post this, and it's just a weird situation to me. Any thoughts?

From what you wrote it just sounds like he misinterpreted your friendliness for interest. Keep ignoring him and just focus on who you want to make allies with at work so you feel more comfortable.

Hmm, I would wait it out a bit, and see what happens if any further steps needed to be taken. I think if you just start to ignore him as Hanna said he will take the hint and realize you were just being friendly.

Definitely talk your coworkers if things progress, I was in a situation (worse though) like this with an older man and just thinking about it gives me the hives. Luckily he transferred to a different location though, which made it easier for me.
