As I said in my last post, I've had a mental shift and I've become a much more positive person. The process started in late 2014. I was deeply unsatisfied with my life and set out to change things up and now things are really starting to roll for me.Anyways, here lately I have been watching a lot of inspirational videos on youtube and I keep hearing something that just seems plain wrong to me. It seems a lot of people in the new age self help community think desire is a bad thing. They say to be truly happy you have to be content with who you are and what you have right now. They say that desire is like a bottomless pit that will never be satisfied and you have to let go of it to be happy.Honestly, I can kind of see their point about desire being a bottomless pit that is never satisfied. Having said that, I still think desire is a good thing because without desire we would not feel compelled to improve and strive for bigger and better things. To me, desire is the catalyst for happiness. If I didn't want more out of life I would have never left the house and got **** done. What do you guys think? Do you think desire is bad or good? And why do you think so? IP: Logged |

The type of desire they're describing compared to what you're describing... sounds like more of the jealous, coveting type of feelings we have to overcome rather than a motivation to do better. There's nothing wrong with wanting a better life for yourself at all, of course, but jealousy is a negative and low vibration and can never be conquered when there will ALWAYS be someone / something that's "more" than you. I don't buy that to be happy one can't have desire. The key is to not long over the past and live in the moment, but not entirely without hope for the future in-the-moments. IP: Logged |
