My main thing to do for comfort is to read. I get so engrossed in Tudor history. I get lost when I read books about this era.

I love Stephen King. His new book was amazing--"Later". He was talking from the point of view of a child and it was so beautiful.

Doing charts gives me a lot of comfort and I get to help people. When you give, you get a lot of joy.

My dog died and I am very sad not to have a dog. A dog is one of the greatest comforts in the world but someone in my family does not want one, so I am not getting a new one for now.

I can’t always concentrate enough to read now. When I’ve had the odd day when I didn’t get out of bed at all, I’ve ended up showering before 4am, and watching something in the dark. Generally when I don’t feel like wallowing anymore.

Otherwise, I need to get out of the house. Or talk to a friend.

Thank you. Today was one of those days when I almost didn't get up. I'm sorry you lost your dog.

For comfort, I mentally replay scenes from the many happy Christmas Days spent with my parents and siblings during childhood.

For pleasure, I mentally replay scenes from the many happy Christmas Days spent with my wife and our two children.

sorry to hear about your dog, is the person you live with opposed to pets in general or just dogs? because if it's just dogs... my green cheek conure is basically a tiny dog with feathers which is pretty nice

for comfort i always tell myself i can kill myself later, no **** , whenever things are really bad i just tell myself i can get through it and if after i've gone through it things still aren't ok i have the power to end it and that always makes me feel better

I am taking guitar and voice lessons. I have been for 10 years. My teacher said I was the hardest student he even met about letting go. I realized that I thought I would go insane if I let go because I have been holding myself together so tightly from childhood abuse. In my last lesson, I realized that I would not go insane if I let go and I did and I feel I found my voice.

That is cool, Dumuzi. What do you like to play? How did you teach yourself?

The person I live with does not dislike dogs but does not want to put the time into having one because they really are like babies.

I feel so sad without a dog. I have always had one and they are so special!!

As a child, Christmas Day was the only day in the year when my father was able to spend the whole 24 hours at home. So he made sure that he and my mother spent it only with their children. ... And that made all of their children feel loved, wanted and secure.

As an adult, my wife and I carried on that tradition with our own two children - although my job enabled me to be at home during weekends, public holidays and a few weeks of paid leave.

Our two children subsequently carried on that family tradition with their children. ... And now, our eldest grandchild is carrying it on with her two children (whom are currently our only great-grandchildren).

what about an older dog? can't recommend a bird in that situaiton because they're even more like babies though i find them easier

i like playing a bunch of different stuff, no fixed genre, i primarily play rhythm guitar because it's about singing more than anything

i generally play on a steel string acoustic, i have a little martin i use more than anything actually because i'm 5' tall and my hands are small so playing a normal sized guitar makes me feel like one of those south korean kids

i can play some stuff by ear so i largely learn songs through just looking at the chords used on top of the vocals and go from there or on my own

i started when i was 12 but mostly didnt bother until my mid 20's when i was really sick i was near bedbound (literally crawling to the bathroom) could barely open my eyes or sit up or anything

but for music i could keep my eyes closed and not have to move much so i started playing and singing and it got me through that without going crazy

When I can, gardening and hiking. When I can’t, reading, singing and crafting projects. When I have to, driving fast with loud music playing.

I am very auditory, so I made a spotify playlist of happy songs which can really uplift my spirit when I am down.

I have a playlist for morning happy songs, and a playlist for evening happy songs.

Thanks. The good feeling didn’t last long. I have a bad toothache, broken tooth in the back-right, and it isn’t letting up tonight. Ugh. It calmed down earlier, but I took zzzquil and acetaminophen, but didn’t fall asleep, and now the pain is back in full force. I hate this so much, and I just feel like such a moron for letting things slide so much. There was a lot going on, but damn. My ear aches, too. I’m just grouchy and depressed, and want this pain to go away.
