Being new and all to this forum and Astrology in general, I'm not sure as to what to make of the pandora sign...What exactly is the Pandora? What significance does it have in ones natal chart and personality overall? Where can I locate it in the chart? Oh, and if it helps in any way, here's my chart...(I've posted it on here once already.) http://www.astro.com/cgi/chart.cgi?cid=mm2filec5Jby3-u1315135284&lang=e&gm=a1&nhor=860253&nho2=860253&btyp=2&mth=gw&sday=2&smon=10&syr=2011&hsy=-1&zod=&orbp=&rs=0&ast=

Just think of the Pandora myth - opening the box and then all this bad stuff happens. Googling will bring up a few sites that talk about it; a direct quote from one of them that I remember is, "Curiosity killed the cat". Mine is conjunct Neptine, in Sag - 11th house; sextiles my Moon-Pluto and is part of a yod with them that includes Chiron. IP: Logged |

I would love to know more about this one. Is it kind of like the Scorpionic version of asteroids (secretive)?------------------ "Fall down 100 times, get up 101...this is success." --ME IP: Logged |

We know the story of Pandora’s Box and automatically think of the negative side of the story (because it was). I have read that Pandora in a chart can help figure out career paths using the definition “Capacity for curiosity which initiates change” – which is the one I go by, as it is more encouraging. I have also seen it defined as “stirring a person to do something and getting unintended results.”, which, yeah, she did. In my asteroid spreadsheet I have it as “Impact, curiosity, a desire to make a difference or a splash, the urge to ‘be all one can be’, changes…”, which is a compilation of stuff I found by Googling and from The Astrology Encyclopedia by James R. Lewis, which has definitions for almost every asteroid.Mine is in 23Leo51 in the 7th house, sextile Moon, Mars, Cupido, Hidalgo and Polyhymnia (all orb 1-2 degrees).

I like that - a positive portrayal to balance out the negative because like you said, pretty much all the descriptions of it I've seen up til now are bad. Gives me a bit of hope too considering that conjunction it makes to Neptune in my chart - Neptune being prominent because it's a singleton and aspects both my luminaries and some of my inner planets as well... I found more on Pandora while I was looking for more info on Mnemosyne: http://cafeastrology.com/samplegoddessreport.pdf The report has an interesting point about the misogyny behind the Pandora myth... IP: Logged |
