What is the difference and how do I tell them apart when Astrodienst gives them the same name on your chart? Which is the one that pairs with Osiris?

You can google for the asteroid and if wiki doesn't have the source for the name (which it usually does) then there are other places on the net. There is book available with all the asteroids in and what they were named after which often gets thrown up when you search for the origin of the name - it'll show you the page so you don't have to buy it.

Try typing Isis asteroid named after and you should get lucky.

Well what I found is that 42 is "Isis" and H48 is "Trans-Pluto Isis"...

----------------------------------------------
h48 Trans-pluto is not the same as asteroid 42 Isis. Transpluto is a hypothetical body or point, Isis is a 'real' asteroid orbiting the 'Main Belt' between Venus and Jupiter.

The union of these two deities (Eros & Isis) may bring powerful results both internal and external. Here we have two divine aspects of love and magic. The daughter of Geb, sister to Osiris and Seth, Isis is the embodiment of love and the power of nature.

Osiris was the consort to queen Isis. When his jealous brother Seth slew the him and dropped his body into the Nile, Isis made love to her resurrected husband and gave birth to Horus. The themes around Osiris and Isis are those of death, resurrection and love, not unlike Dionysus and Christ and the Magdalene.

With Eros in conjunction to Isis, there can be a reunion with 'divine love', a feeling of any of the thematic images of Osiris and Isis: love, union, separation, dismemberment, longing, searching, and creative outcomes (Horus).
