Its a sad myth about lost love I believe, I think he had a wife who died and he went into the underworld to retrieve her... they told him he could have her back but he couldn't look back at her on his journey back.. and of course she was really quiet and right before he made it he went nuts worrying about her and looked.. and she was there but faded away.. has has a gift with music that touches everyone, even animals, then he gets torn to pieces by maenaids and dies, then gets put into the stars I believe------------------

Someone was expressing sadness about love and I asked about asteroids. She had Orpheus conj the moon. She looked up Orpheus and sent me this. Once again, another asteroid I need to learn about  ------------------

Yes. His wife was Eurydike. They had just married, when she was bitten by a snake and died. Anyway, much later on, after his own death, they got reunited in the underworld. IP: Logged |

For me what sticks out about this myth more than anything is how it seems linked to singing /musical ability.Michael Jackson had it conjunct his midheaven and Saturn, I think? IP: Logged |

Orpheus and Eurydike is a story of true love and grief. Is not a story about unrequited love. In fact the love is so strong that it gets in its own way in a sense.His love for her and desire to reunite with her was so strong he went to the underworld to get her back after she died but he accidentally looked back when she was still in the dark bc he assumed since he was in the light that she was also in the light and it was safe to hug her. His excitement to reunite with her and his love for her was so strong that it caused him to be impulsive/rash when he as so close to reuniting with her, his feelings got in the way of waiting for the right time to embrace her and so he lost her again! Is a story about how love can get in the way of practicing the needed patience required to be with someone you love with all your heart. Is a lesson about patience, taking it slow and the importance of faith in the journey towards true love. When we love someone very strongly we are not very patient and get scared easily which is what gets in the way of been together in the end. Impatience with losing faith is a recipe for disaster in our journey towards true love.
